What’s New in Utah Dining: Montblu in Midway, Pinkbox Sandy & Surf and Turf

Surf & Turf Saturdays

Every Friday and Saturday night, Lucky H Buffet at Little America turns up the ante with their Crab, Seafood, and Prime Rib Buffet for just $69 per adult. Dig into fresh crab legs, oysters, and smoked salmon alongside carved prime rib, brisket, and roast turkey, plus a salad station, Spanish paella, and a spread of homemade desserts. It’s a weekend feast worth the appetite.

Michelin Chef Coming to Heber Valley

This fall, a French-inspired daytime restaurant called Montblu opens at Southill, the new Cotswolds-inspired village in Midway (Heber Valley). Montblu is from Culinary Director and Partner Chef Steven Fretz, and the new restaurant marks a Utah homecoming: Fretz recently left California, where his restaurant Coast Range earned Michelin Guide recognition for four consecutive years, to cook in the valley where his family history runs a century deep.

Fretz started his career just up the road in Deer Valley, at Snow Park Lodge and Stein Eriksen Lodge, before two decades in high profile kitchens across San Francisco and Los Angeles, including Michael Mina’s XIV.

As for Montblu, the folks behind it said, “the menu is built on French inspiration and seasonality with breakfast and lunch favorites in mind. Think, a biscuit-croissant hybrid stuffed with gruyere and sausage espuma, a Wagyu roast beef dip with raclette and caramelized peaches, a signature fried chicken sandwich and a killer pastry case featuring items like a triple-fermented donut with brown butter vanilla glaze. It’s food designed to feel familiar at first glance, then reveal the layers of technique underneath. Drink program highlights include Valrhona hot chocolate with toasted marshmallow meringue, a strawberry lemonade with strawberry sherbet, and a wine list built partly around two Montblu private-label pinot noirs from Central Coast producers. Montblu is housed in a storybook charming limestone petit maison (from stone quarried onsite) with a slate roof, a color-drenched sunroom, cozy fireplace and ample indoor/outdoor seating.”

Pinkbox Expands to Sandy

Pinkbox Doughnuts, the nationally acclaimed brand known for vibrant pink branding and fresh, inventive flavors, has announced the opening of its third Utah location in Sandy. The new store debuts the brand’s first-ever Pinkycade, an interactive arcade experience designed to further elevate the shop’s immersive atmosphere.

“Our Sandy location brings together two things our guests love most—wildly creative doughnuts and an experiential environment further elevated by the new arcade, Pinkycade,” said Stephen Siegel, founder of Pinkbox Doughnuts. “The concept extends the Pinkbox Doughnuts experience beyond amazing doughnuts, creating a unique destination where fun and fresh doughnuts come together. We’re excited to see guests of all ages make new memories.”

“We’re excited to continue our brand’s growth and build relationships with the Salt Lake County community in light of how wildly popular the American Fork store has been,” Siegel said.
