Solitude’s New Waffle Wonderland
New to Solitude Mountain Resort this winter season is Little Dollie Waffles, which held its grand opening recently with free waffle samples. Located outside, adjacent to Solitude’s Moonbeam Center, Little Dollie Waffles specializes in Belgian-style Liege waffles with a brioche-like dough.
The waffles are quite customizable: you can enjoy them plain, or topped with sugar and cinnamon, chocolate, strawberry sauce, Nutella and whipped cream. Since Little Dollie Waffles is located outside, you can virtually ski up to the slopeside waffle window, grab your waffle to go, and enjoy it on the chairlift.
New Manoli’s Menus
The cuisine at Manoli’s restaurant is nothing if not fresh and seasonal. So, Manoli Katsanevas and his crew recently launched new seasonal menus to help celebrate the Winter season as well as the Holidays. Included in the update are Manoli’s’ brunch and bar menus, with new dishes, signature cocktails, and a variety of naturally-made and Greek imported wines.
Some menu items that look new to me include seared duck breast with black garlic lacquer; black butter risotto with butternut squash; grilled lamb riblets with caper chimichurri; and sauteed local mushrooms with hummus, roti, and dried onion spice. Of course, crowd favorites like dolmathes, kritharaki, pan-seared branzino, pilafi and others remain on the Manoli’s menu.
