One of the things I love most about springtime is that it gives me an excuse to break out the Rosé wines that have been largely languishing during winter. Yes, they are considered to be the perfect “picnic wine,” but Rosés are very versatile and make good partners for all sorts of different types of food.
I’d happily drink Rosé with Chinese cuisine of the type I reviewed at Chinese Taste restaurant this week, as well as with grilled meats, sushi, Indian fare and lots more.
Well, one of the most delicious Rosé wines I’ve tasted in quite some time is 2017 “M” De Minuty Rosé ($21). This should be a solid contender for your go-to Memorial Day vino. It comes from St. Tropez, in France, where the Mediterranean climate is ideal for producing a sunny wine like this one.
The grapes – mostly Grenache and Tibouren – are all hand-harvested, sustainably farmed, and chemical-free. Candied orange and peach aromas mingle together in this harmonious, well-balanced Rosé that would be terrific with skewered and grilled shrimp on the barbie. The sleek, sexy, clear bottle that this yummy wine comes in is just an added bonus.
