Paradise Parlor Pop-Up

Carver Road Hospitality has announced the launch of Flanker Kitchen + Sporting Club’s new pop-up installation in The Gateway, called Paradise Parlor, a tiki lounge located in Flanker’s speakeasy parlor. It will be open starting Thursday, April 20th at 7:30PM and will operate on Thursdays from 5pm to 11pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm to 1am.

“The speakeasy Parlor is one of the more popular rooms in the venue. During the holidays, our Christmas pop-up was such a success we immediately started working on what would be next and a homage to some of our favorite tiki bars and exotic tropical destinations seemed like a natural install for the summer,” says Bryan Bass, Chief Marketing Officer of Carver Road Hospitality, the visionary Las Vegas group that conceived and operates Flanker.

“Paradise Parlor will transform the Parlor into a tropical paradise complete with creative decor as well as a new mural from local artist Trent Call, a private Elvis-themed ‘Jungle Room’ in the duckpin bowling area and an innovative cocktail menu from famed mixologist, and Carver Road VP of Beverage and Hospitality Culture, Francesco Lafranconi.”

“Thanks to the revival of craft cocktails and abundance of rums and great fresh ingredients, we are experiencing a new generation of tiki lovers all around the world,” said Lafronconi. “Our menu highlights classic tropical cocktails like the Singapore Sling alongside contemporary adaptations that feature photo-friendly presentations.”

Lafranconi’s tiki cocktail menu will also include the “Hidden Cannibal’s Shanty” which channels tiki whimsy when Patron Silver is blended with Montenegro Amaro, Falernum, Grapefruit, Hibiscus, Lime and Pink Pepper Syrup. Paradise Parlor will also feature a concise menu of small plates that can be combined for a Pu-Pu Platter perfect for sharing with friends.

“Tropical watering holes and bamboo bars have been popular in America since the early 1930’s so this snapshot of South Sea escapism is the perfect second installment in our Parlor pop-up series which will continue through the course of the year,” added Bass.

Libations @ The Leo

On Thursday, April 27th, The Leonardo will continue its Leo Libations series with a special evening of Flights n’ Bites. “Guided by Wine Academy of Utah Sommelier Jim Santangelo, guests will enjoy unique wine pairings with robust appetizers. Menu includes robust seasonal appetizers. This is a 21+ event. ID is required to attend and registration fees are nonrefundable for those denied entry. Registration will close April 25th.”

Final Winter Farmers Market

I got this reminder from the good folks at The Gateway. “The last call for locally produced goods is upon us. Saturday, April 15 will be the final Winter Farmers Market of the season at The Gateway. Don’t miss this opportunity to stock up on items like cheese, meat, eggs, baked goods, crafts, and more while supporting local farmers and artisans as we enter the spring season.”

The Winter Farmers Market at The Gateway is located at 16 N. Rio Grande and takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
