Tupelo Returns to Park City!

For years, one of my very favorite Utah restaurants was Tupelo in Park City, the creation of Chef Matt Harris and his wife and business partner Maggie Alvarez. Unfortunately, the rent for the Tupelo building on Main Street was hiked sky high and Maggie and Matt were forced to close Tupelo, at least temporarily.

Well, I have great news: The award-winning fine dining Tupelo will reopen this fall in the space on Park City’s Kearns Boulevard that was previously home to Adolph’s.

“We’ve been waiting for the perfect time and opportunity to reestablish ourselves in Park City, and we are thrilled that time is now,” said Tupelo Partner Maggie Alvarez. “We are honored to once again be among Park City’s passionate local businesses, and we look forward to offering our renowned dining experience in our new, reimagined space.”

Stay tuned to Utah Bites for an opening date. In the meantime, I encourage you to visit Matt and Maggie’s outstanding Heber restaurant, Afterword

2021 Utah Cheese Awards

The annual Utah Cheese Awards is back for 2021 after taking a COVID hiatus in 2020. On Thursday, November 11, from 5 to 8 p.m., Bewilder Brewing will host the Utah Cheese Awards tasting reception and medal ceremony.

According to organizer Steven Jerman, “ Ticket holders will be able to sample a carefully curated buffet of current Utah Cheese Awards winners, as well as meet and purchase items from some of the winning companies that will be exhibiting. The menu will include a variety of cheese categories, bread, sauces, and dried fruit. Craft beer and other beverages will be available for purchase.”

Says Jerman, “In its fifth year, the contest has expanded to judge cheeses and cheese plate foods from 7 neighboring states in addition to it’s solid group of Utah artisan cheesemakers. At 7:30 the awards will be announced and medals presented to the artisans in attendance.”

Tickets are $20 and include tax and service charge. Guests must be 21 or over. The past two receptions have sold out. Click here for additional information and to purchase tickets.
