Golan Heights Winery is Israel’s leading quality wine producer and just recently released the 2021 vintage of their flagship wine, Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon 2021. Yarden Cabernet put Israel and the Golan Heights into the international winemaking map and, in response to worldwide demand, has significantly increased production of Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon – good news for serious wine lovers. According to the winery, Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon has sold out in every vintage since 1982.

The 39th vintage of Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon, 2021 was produced from carefully selected grapes in Israel’s Golan Heights wine-growing region. The Winery said, “Under the guidance of Head Winemaker Victor Schoenfeld, the 2021 vintage highlights the winery’s commitment to precision viticulture, revealing the intricate complexity of the Golan Heights’ natural conditions: unique volcanic soils, winter snowstorms, long hot summer days, and cool nights. Situated on a volcanic plateau, the vineyards rise from 1,300 to 3,900 feet, deriving cooling benefits from the highest elevations in Israel.”

“2021 was a remarkable vintage, and our fantastic team rose to the challenge of confronting unusual weather conditions and the shadow of the pandemic,” says Victor Schoenfeld. “We strive to achieve winemaking excellence with every vintage, constantly pushing the boundaries of what our vineyards can produce and redefining Israeli winemaking. Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine of exceptional quality that truly reflects the best of our vineyards and winemaking philosophy.”

My wife and I brought a bottle of Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 to Sundance Resort recently and enjoyed it during a wonderful dinner at The Tree Room restaurant. This wine is a terrific bang for the buck, priced at $45 per bottle. Classic dark red and black fruit notes, spicy undertones, and hints of fennel made Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 an excellent pairing with Chef Davidson’s delicious duck dish. Aged 18 months in French oak barrels, the wine is concentrated and scrumptious right now, but will continue to improve over the next decade or so.
