Longoria Wine Dinner at BTG

Longoria is best known for being a master Pinot Noir maker, but doesn’t like to be pigeonholed as “just a Pinot guy.” According to Libation Inc. owner Francis Fecteau, “Rick is the reason Miles [Paul Giamatti] in the film Sideways says ‘I am not drinking any fucking Merlot!'” proclaiming his preference for Pinot Noir.

If you’re looking for a perfect holiday gift for your favorite wine lover (and maybe that’s yourself), how about treating them to a wine dinner? On Tuesday, December 17th at 7:00 p.m., BTG Wine Bar and winemaker Rick Longoria will host a wine dinner featuring Longoria wines.

Rick Longoria

Rick Longoria is a talented and seasoned winemaker with a track record and vitae that includes stops at Buena Vista Winery, Firestone Vineyard, Chappellet Vineyards, J. Carey Cellars, Gainey Vineyard and, in 1982, released his own first vintages under the Longoria name. They were Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays using fruit purchased from the Santa Maria Valley in California’s Northern Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County.

Longoria is best known for being a master Pinot Noir maker, but doesn’t like to be pigeonholed as “just a Pinot guy.” According to Libation Inc. owner Francis Fecteau, “Rick is the reason Miles [Paul Giamatti] in the film Sideways says ‘I am not drinking any fucking Merlot!’” proclaiming his preference for Pinot Noir.

Rick makes some 14 different wines, utilizing a wide range of varietals, from Albariño, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio, to Bordeaux-style blends, Tempranillo, Syrah, and many others, including, of course, Pinot Noir. These are wonderful wines that are also excellent values.

Rick Longoria will be hosting the BTG Wine Dinner next Tuesday and you won’t want to miss it. The cost is $90 per person ($45/wine & $45/food) and chef/owner Fred Moesinger is designing a special menu of dishes to be paired with the Longoria wines. The Longoria wines being poured will be Albariño, Tempranillo, “Lovely Rita” Pinot Noir, “Blues Cuvee” Cabernet Franc, and late harvest Syrah. There’s limited table, booth and bar seating available, so I recommend calling 801-359-2814 to reserve your spot ASAP. 21 and over, of course.
