  1. Utah Gives NHL A Very Warm Welcome 

On Wednesday, Utah’s NHL team that has not been named made its first appearance in Salt Lake City, according to KSL. Head coach André Tourigny spoke with KSL and said, “There’s a kid who signed my hoodie,” Tourigny said. “I was the guy who was asking them to sign. Seriously, this will be my seventh year in the NHL, and I told my wife I think it’s my best day in the NHL so far.” 

  1. Utah Is The First State in 25 Years To Create A Program For Modular Housing 

In a press release sent to Utah Stories, it details that Ivory Innovations and David Eccles School of Business are celebrating the passing of SB0168, which means a pathway for the building of more modular homes. Establishing a statewide off-site construction program unlocks opportunities to address housing needs across the state,” said Ryan Colker, Vice President of Innovation at the International Code Council. This is a step in addressing the housing affordability crisis. 

  1. Trails Are Opening in Butterfield Canyon 

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, there will be more trails opening in Butterfield Canyon very soon. Construction will be finished on two downtown biking trails adding on to the 13 miles from last August. The biking trails are set to open in June. 

  1. Is Sundance Leaving Utah? 

Sundance is exploring other options after 2027, after being in Park City, Utah for 40 years according to the Associated Press. The final selection for Sundance 2027 should be announced in early 2025. “We are in a unique moment for our Festival and our global film community, and with the contract up for renewal, this exploration allows us to responsibly consider how we best continue sustainably serving our community while maintaining the essence of the Festival experience,” said Eugene Hernandez, the festival’s director said to the Associated Press.
