PBS’ Moveable Feast comes to Utah, Deer Valley welcomes Taste of Luxury chef, and Laurel Brasserie & Bar celebrates Bastille Day.

PBS’ Moveable Feast in Utah

PBS’ Moveable Feast with Relish, a 13-episode series produced by GBH and Relish.com, takes viewers on a culinary journey of discovery, transporting them to diverse regions of the world to explore vibrant food cultures. According to the folks at Moveable Feast, “Our hosts team up with the world’s most innovative chefs, known for their use of fresh regional ingredients, to create spontaneous delicious feasts in unique settings for friends and family that will inspire home cooks everywhere.”

In mid-July, Moveable Feast with Relish will be filming with chefs here in Utah, featuring host Alex Thomopoulous. She and her crew will be filming a feast at Log Haven restaurant featuring Log Haven Chef Dave Jones, as well as Viet Pham (Pretty Bird) and Lavanya Mahate (Saffron Valley). In addition, Moveable Feast will be shooting at Park City Mountain for another feast with Chef Alex Malmborg and Chef Zeke Wray. 

This Utah episode will be part of the 10th season of Moveable Feast, which will begin airing in October. Stay tuned here to Utah Bites for specific air dates. Moveable Feast can also be streamed online. 

Deer Valley Taste of Luxury Welcomes BBQ Icon

Deer Valley Resort invites guests to “Celebrate summer with the next helping of Deer Valley Resort’s Taste of Luxury series, featuring Chef Ryan Arensdorf of Kansas City’s Jack Stack BBQ, the largest wood-fired cookery in the country. Three days of exclusive events include a VIP meet-and-greet reception and dinner paired with the Old Crow Medicine Show concert at Deer Valley’s Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater, and two opportunities to cook alongside the BBQ master in interactive classes. The meet-and-greet reception will take place July 13, 2023, on the Royal Street Café deck, and cooking classes will be held July 14 and 15, 2023, in the new Deer Valley Creative Academy at the Deer Valley Plaza Building.”

“With a profound love for the open flames and the smoky aromas of barbecuing, guests will indulge in Chef Arensdorf’s mastery of slow-smoking, grilling, and wood-fired ovens, as well as his expertise in creating customized rubs, sauces, and marinades.”

“What an honor it is to host Chef Ryan Arensdorf to Deer Valley for the fourth course of our Taste of Luxury Series this July,” said Deer Valley Resort Vice President of Food and Beverage Jacob Musyt. “The peak of summer cookout season is the perfect time to feature his famed BBQ recipes and techniques for guests to enjoy and learn to recreate for family and friends.”

Bastille Day Festivities at Laurel

Named for the “storming of the Bastille,” Bastille Day is sort of France’s independence day, celebrated annually on July 14th. On France’s National Day, Paris holds one of the oldest and largest military parades in Europe. In addition, there are lots of concerts, fireworks, and of course, good food. 

From Friday, July 7th through Sunday, July 16th, French-influenced Laurel Brasserie & Bar in the Grand America invites guests to revel in all things Parisian-inspired with special menu and drink items, in addition to the regular Laurel French fare with dishes such as Steak Frites, French Onion Soup, and Steamed Mussels & Clams. 

In celebration of Bastille Day Laurel will offer an exclusive prix fixe menu for $39 per person with an optional $20 wine pairing. The first course is a choice of Pork Rillette or Mesclun Greens with Vinaigrette. Guests will then choose an entree of either Beef Bourguignon or Salmon en Papillote. For dessert there’s a choice of Ice Cream or Beignets. Featured cocktails in a Juniper SideCar and St. Germain Elderflower 75.
