Mountaintop Brew & Tunes

Every Saturday this summer through September 2, 2023, Deer Valley Resort invites guests to “ride up Sterling Express chairlift and join us for scenic afternoon celebrations atop Deer Valley’s Bald Mountain at Snowshoe Tommy’s. Enjoy a variety of beer sponsors, live entertainment, take-away fare with à la carte pricing, and stunning mountaintop views.”

Brew and Tunes Saturdays at Snowshoe Tommy’s takes place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. An all-area, full-day scenic or bike lift ticket is required to ride the Sterling Express chairlift to access each event. Purchase lift tickets by clicking here.

New Summer Dishes at Rodizio

Rodizio Brazilian Grill has added some tempting new grilling season menu items in addition to the regular churrasco smorgasbord, available throughout the month of July at no extra charge.

According to the folks at Rodizio, new summer dishes include:

Pescado with Passion Fruit Sauce: Flavorful and flaky white fish, cooked to perfection paired with a creamy, homemade passion fruit sauce for a savory-sweet balance.

Beef Brisket: Slow-roasted, fork-tender and dripping with melt-in-your-mouth flavor.

Lemongrass Mango Soup: Chilled mango soup with lemon grass tea, mango puree, ginger, yogurt, and chunks of coconut.

BBQ Chicken Salad: Fresh tossed romaine lettuce topped with sweet baked BBQ chicken and homemade Malagueta BBQ ranch dressing.

Pie and Beer Day at Beer Bar

As most of you know, Pioneer Day is a Utah state holiday which celebrates Brigham Young’s arrival – along with other Mormon settlers – to the Salt Lake Valley in 1847.

But a few years ago someone – I’m not sure who thunk up the original idea – created an alternative Pioneer Day holiday for non-Mormons: Pie and Beer Day. It’s a day chock full of homemade pies and craft brews.

There are various Pie and Beer Day celebrations in Utah, but in my opinion the best one is the Official Pie and Beer Day at Beer Bar in downtown SLC. This year, on Monday, July 24, 2023, from noon to 4 p.m. Beer Bar will host Pie and Beer Day with 25 breweries, 25 kitchens, and over 10,000 slices of pie.

Pie and Beer Day at Beer Bar is a benefit event for the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah. Tickets are $40 per person (21 and over) and includes 6 pairings.
