This past Tuesday, June 1st, kicked off the annual Park City Area Restaurant Association (PCARA) Savor the Cocktail contest. You might recall that I shared the sad news a few weeks ago that the annual Savor the Summit gourmet dining event was cancelled this summer due to COVID-19 concerns. However, through August 31st, locals and visitors are invited to imbibe original cocktails from as many participating PCARA restaurants as possible and cast their votes online for their favorites.

Thirteen bars and restaurants are competing in this year’s contest. One vote may be cast per email address, per cocktail, online on the PCARA website, www.parkcityrestaurants.com. Voters must be 21 years of age to participate.

Speaking on Tuesday, PCARA executive director Ginger Wicks said, “Today marks the start of a summer-long celebration – and friendly competition – of Park City’s most inventive summer cocktails. Our bartenders and mixologists have been tasked with creating a drink that best embodies the Park City spirit, while patrons are encouraged to sample as many as possible and decide which will be this year’s winner.”

According to PCARA, “The mixologist with the winning cocktail will earn a $500 cash prize, city-wide recognition, and will be featured in a marketing campaign leading into PCARA’s popular fall ‘Dine About’ event following the contest. The winner will also have the opportunity to create their own original Bartender’s Box, a Top Shelf cocktail experience delivered right to your door. Equipped with fresh ingredients and helpful how-to videos, boxes include everything you need to prepare high-end, quality cocktails at home.”

This summer’s entrants include:

Alpine Pie Bar: Park City Negroni

Baja Cantina: Spicy Patron Margarita

Flanagan’s on Main: The Spirit of Daisey

Grappa: Disco Fever

Handle: Handle “Rum” Cocktail

Hearth and Hill: Kimball Cactus

Riverhorse on Main: Tom Cat Sour

Royal Street Café: Sterling Margarita

Stein Eriksen Lodge: Lexington Lemonade

Sushi Blue: Sudachi Seducer

Timbers Bar & Lounge: Spring View

Versante Hearth + Bar: Botanical Dragon

Windy Ridge Café: PC Rocks

Good luck to all of the talented contestants!
