The Queer Food FEASTival 2023 takes place on Friday, May 12th at Mountain West Hard Cider (425 N 400 W, SLC) from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
Here’s what the organizers have to say about the event. “In partnership with local LGBTQ and ally-owned and operated restaurants, breweries, and providers of spirits, the Utah LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the 2023 Queer Food FEASTival – a springtime celebration of community and abundance! The focus of the FEAST will not only be the food, but also the nourishment we provide each other through gathering and breaking bread together — a taste of Queer Salt Lake! This Friday evening event will feature culinary creations, craft cocktails, and fabulous entertainment. Join in the fun and help support our local entertainers & food/beverage suppliers.”

Admission is $35 in advance or $40 at the door and includes all tasty tidbits and one complimentary specialty cocktail. Discounted admission available for Chamber members, seniors, students, people with disabilities and single parents. This is a 21+ event.
New Menu Updates at Laurel
Laurel Brasserie & Bar in The Grand America Hotel updated its menu last week. Utilizing local and in-season ingredients, Chefs Fernando Soberanis and Tomas Olvera have collaborated to bring bright and beautiful flavors to downtown Salt Lake City. New menu items include:
- Oyster Mushroom “Calamari” – Fried Oyster Mushrooms Served with Tartar Sauce, Lemon
- Steamed Mussels & Clams – Spicy Sausage, Tomato Sauce, Fennel, Parsley
- New England Clam Chowder – Manila Clams, Potatoes, Bacon, Celery
- Donna Dinora Pizza – Grilled Shrimp, Mozzarella, Cherry Tomatoes, Pistachio Pesto
- Chicken Fricassee – Crispy Baby Artichokes, Orange-Caraway Glazed Carrots, Asparagus, Natural Jus
- Country Style Pork Chop – Warm Potato Salad With Fava Beans, Morel Mushrooms, Creamy Demi Glaze
Cinco de Mayo at Dos Olas
Dos Olas restaurant and cantina at Pendry Park City is throwing a special Cinco de Mayo party on May 5th from 5 to 10 p.m. According to the folks at Pendry, “Attendees will experience our traditional and delicious Mexican cuisine menu, drink, and food specials for the evening, along with a special live music performance by our friends, Rumba Libre. Located slope side in Pendry Plaza in Canyons Village, with expansive indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant, with free and convenient parking available in the garage below.”
In addition, Dos Olas runs weekly specials like Taco Tuesdays ($4 street tacos), Nacho Normal Wednesdays ($12 loaded nachos), and Thirsty Thursdays with $10 house Margaritas and $5 Ceviche shots.
