SnowWiesn at Snowbasin Resort kicks off this weekend and takes place every Sunday through October 8th, from noon to 6 p.m. SnowWiesn Oktoberfest is a German-themed fall festival in the mountains. Named after d’Wiesn, the local nickname for Oktoberfest in Germany referring to the fairgrounds. It features Bavarian food, craft beer and drinks, live music, a local market and fun activities.
Bavarian-themed food will be offered, including smoked turkey legs, pretzels, bratwurst, Reubens and more. A wide selection of local craft beer, plus a full bar will be available. Single day tickets are $10. Premier Pass Holders will receive free entry. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to the Ogden Valley Land Trust and GOAL Foundation to support their respective missions to enhance local communities. Snowbasin Resort is dog friendly. Your furry friends are permitted into SnowWiesn Oktoberfest on leash. They are welcome in any outdoor spaces, trails and Needles Gondola. Owners must clean up after their pet.
Spice on 9th Grand Opening
This past Friday Spice on 9th had its grand opening. Spice on 9th is a market, cafe and small business hub located in the Artspace Greenery in the Granary District of Salt Lake City by Spice Kitchen Incubator.
According to the folks at Spice, “Spice on 9th is a 1,200-square-foot community-led space run by culinary entrepreneurs participating in Spice Kitchen Incubator programming as well as other small business owners receiving services from the IRC in Salt Lake City to hone their food business skills and offer their products in a shared market.”
“The cafe will be operated by Spice entrepreneurs on a rotating basis, giving the public the opportunity to try different world cuisines. Many entrepreneurs will be selling packaged food products. Grab-and-go items, basic coffee drinks as well as produce offered by refugee farmers participating in the IRC’s New Roots program and artisan products from IRC’s Small Business clients.”
Spice on 9th is located at Artspace Greenery, 422A West 900 South. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
New Additions to The Local Market + Bar
The Local Market & Bar announced this week three new culinary concepts that have opened at their downtown Salt Lake City location. Starting this week, diners can sample pizza from Verona, fresh baked gourmet empanadas from Porteña, and an array of poke bowls and Asian snacks from Pokeologist.
According to The Local, “Porteña offers fresh baked gourmet empanadas, sandwiches and salads that draw from the delicious flavors of Argentina. Chef Pablo Montes, from Buenos Aires, has been a Salt Lake City food truck favorite for many years. He is proud to offer a modern twist on classic Argentinian empanadas that are offered in both savory and dessert styles. His menu is rounded out by delicious sides and savory sandwiches, such as their ‘chori-pan’, which is made with Argentinian chorizo.”
