Utah Counties’ Rebellious Saints Face Covid Surge

Utah Tonight threw a massive Halloween party. Thousands showed up demonstrating their non-conformity by not wearing masks, not allowing the liberal propaganda to infiltrate their rebel streak and mass gathering.

Just like the protestors who were meeting weekly in downtown SLC: dancing, rebelling, chanting, “No justice, no peace!” they are now suffering the consequences. Somehow Covid doesn’t understand that neither Saints nor Social Justice Warriors are immune. Covid doesn’t seem to show concern over the cause that brings people together: the toll keeps rising mainly due to unsanctioned mass gatherings. Neither the LDS Church, nor Governor Gary Herbert are encouraging LDS members to attend mass gatherings.

Still, between 3,000 and 10,000 people came to Utah Lake to party like it’s 1999, reports Fox 13 news. This mass-gathering was shut down by police, who are now likely pressing charges against a group called Utah Tonight and Tribe Utah. Both groups have deleted all of their Instagram and Facebook posts.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Utah reported 2,807 new Covid cases on Friday, Nov 7. Many of them came from Utah County, where mask wearing in public has been viewed as insulting to some residents there.

Salt Lake County reported 1,164 cases on Thursday. For the past week 20 percent of all tests have been diagnosed positive.

It’s clear that while Covid has little effect on the young, who often report mild flu-like symptoms, it wreaks havoc on the elderly and those with co-morbidities. Out of the seven new fatalities from the past week, all patients over the age of sixty-five, two over the age of eight-five.

Utah Stories has been critical about the lack of reporting of factual data and statistics from the Salt Lake Tribune regarding the truth of how few healthy people die from Covid-19. News outlets such as CNN, MSNBC and many left-leaning newspapers seem to think that the public can’t handle the truth and that they would be doing a disservice to report the fact that less than 1% (1 in 100) infected patients over the age of 65 die from Covid and less than 0.1% (1 in 1,000) die from Covid under the age of 55, and healthy, young people almost never die from Covid. Newspapers seem to believe that these are dangerous facts, that reporting these facts would only lead to irresponsible behavior.

We believe these omissions are having the opposite effect: there is a growing distrust of the media because they won’t report the truth along with the bad news. This leads to more irresponsible behavior and distrust of any and all “official data” or media reports.

However, it’s clear from the current surge that we are witnessing now in Utah, for the sake of our elderly– if the healthy in our state choose to not social distance–which they are completely within their rights to do so — they need completely distance themselves from elders and those with co-morbidities. Either abstain from mass-gatherings and practice social distancing, or never go to the home of a person who would fall into the high-risk category for Covid.

If our young and healthy fail to do this until a vaccine is approved, many more elderly Utahns will needlessly die.
