St. Patrick’s Day Festivities, Holi Festival of Colors and Utah Theater

As the snow melts and spring begins there are plenty of things to do and enjoy in Utah in March.

March: Since 2013, Red Butte Garden has been recognized as an Official Daffodil Display Garden. Visit the Garden this spring to see 450,000 blooming bulbs, of which 230,000 are daffodils.

March 11th: 28th Annual Leprechaun Lope. The Annual Leprechaun Lope benefits Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. Dress in green to show your Irish spirit and watch for real leprechauns along the course. Race events include 10k, 5k and 2 mile runs. The race starts at 350 N State Street at 8:30am.

March 1st thru 14th: Moab Skinny Tire Festival. A road cycling tour in Moab. The festival features cycling celebrities, Banff Mountain Film Festival, Western Adventure Dinner, music, beer, food and “the most awe-inspiring landscape imaginable.” You can ride 2 or all 4 days through Dead Horse Point State Park and the Colorado River Corridor. The event benefits cancer research and survivorship programs.

March 18th: St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Siamsa. The Hibernian Society of Utah presents the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrating “A Hundred Thousand Welcomes in America,” showcasing acceptance, diversity and tradition of Irish ancestry in America. The parade starts at 10am through The Gateway. At 10:45 am in the Grand Ballroom of the Union Pacific Station (north of The Gateway), join the Siamsa―Irish for celebration. There will be live Irish music, dance, and Irish cuisine.

March 18th: Walking Tour of Ogden’s Historic 25th Street. Meeting at the Ogden Union Station lobby, this walking tour explores the evolution of the road from brothels and bar fights to a business center. The tour is offered by Val Holly, author of 25th Street Confidential: Drama, Decadence and Dissipation along Ogden’s Rowdiest Road. This free public program is affiliated with the Smithsonian traveling exhibition, The Way We Worked. Contact Danielle Susi at volunteers@theunionstation.org for more information.

March 25th and 26th: Bonsai Show at Red Butte Garden. Members of the Bonsai Club of Utah will be on hand to exhibit bonsai styles and arrangements and offer demonstrations of training and shaping techniques. Trees and tools will be available for purchase. The show will be Saturday the 25th, from 9am to 5pm, and Sunday the 26th from 9am to 3:30pm.

March 25th and 26th: Holi Festival of Colors. Colors, music, yoga and food at the Spanish Fork Krishna Temple, 8628 S. State Road, Spanish Fork. The festival begins at 10am each day.
