Local boutique owner Corey Folster of Unhinged has always had a vision – having several boutiques under one roof, each hosting something unique, different, and appealing. Unhinged in Sugar House has touted many young designers and artists, and the response has been a huge success, particularly to the locally made aspect.
Corey’s vision to get local products, and his unique set-up in front of a larger audience has created a lot of movement for mixing local, unique clothing and products at affordable prices. After searching around the Salt Lake Valley for just the right spot, he and his new business partner, Sara Tramp, designer of Slingshot Pop, began thinking about the historic downtown Provo area. Provo has very few boutiques and none that cater to a younger, more hip demographic. Now that Provo is developing a reputation for nightlife, improvements to shopping are necessary. Corey felt his concept is a perfect fit. Some of the things that make this new space different are found inside the space itself. The building is part of the Historic Provo Town Square and was built around 1883. It has the look and feel of an old time saloon complete with a Victorian back bar, balcony, exposed brick and original wallpaper. It is the ideal setting for the mix of products that Unhinged offers. Another unique concept new to this store will be the rotating Pop-Up space featuring local designers. This Pop-Up will rotate every 45 days so it will always be new and original.
Unhinged will be open by July 1st and will have their grand opening the first week of August.
