February 8
34th Annual Sneddon HOF Germanfest at the Golden Spike Events Center, 1000 North 1200 West, Ogden. Bands, food, vendors, and entertainment from 11am to 10pm, featuring authentic German food and music. This is a family friendly festival. A family pass for 2 adults and up to 4 children is $25, $8 adults, $5 children 3 to 12 (ages 2 and younger are free), $6 for students and seniors. Visit their website for more information.
February 8
Celebrate Chinese New Year at the Salt Lake City Main Library, 210 E 400 S. The Chinese New Year is a time to reconnect with family, let go of the past and plan a new start. Events include a Lion Dance, a cultural program, crafts, calligraphy demonstrations and more. The event is held in partnership with the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, Utah.
February 10
The Humane Society of Utah in partnership with Clever Octopus in Murray is hosting a night of creativity to make two custom handcrafted bandannas for your pets. This event is for humans only. Cost is $35 and will run from 6-8pm and will be held at the Humane Society at 4242 S 300 W. You can register here.
February 14
Valentine’s Evening at Utah Museum of Fine Arts, 410 Campus Center Dr. For a romantic Valentine’s night visit the UMFA and enjoy an open bar of alcoholic and non-alcoholic libations, and hors d’oeuvres while strolling through the galleries with curator Luke Kelly. Prices are $59 per person with a $10 discount for members. Attendees must be 21 years old.
February 15
Moab’s Red Hot 33K and 55K. The Red Hot is located northwest of Moab just west of Arches National Park. Runners will have views of the La Sal Mountains to the southeast and views of Canyonlands National Park to the west. The event is considered the kickoff for the ultra running calendar. February 24 – 26
Weber State University Storytelling Festival. Presented by Boyd K. and Donna S. Packer Center for Family and Community Education at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center, 2415 Washington Boulevard. This once a year event has something for everyone from preschool to senior citizens. This festival is nationally recognized for its emphasis on youth storytellers who perform alongside practicing professionals. Events will be held at various venues throughout the community along with Ogden Eccles Conference Center.
February 27 – 29
Wizarding Dayz and Yule Ball 2020. Experience a world of myths, legends, and magic at the 3rd annual Wizarding Days Convention. Held in the Grand Building at the Utah State Fairpark, 155 N 1000 W. The event will feature interactive panels, vendors, cosplay, contests, authors, and gaming. Also featuring a Yule Ball in partnership with Geek’d Out Events. Tickets can be purchased at GrowTix.
Ice Skating
Ice Skate at the Gallivan Center, 239 Main Street, Salt Lake City. Open Monday through Thursday 4 to 9pm, Friday through Saturday noon to midnight; Sunday noon to 7pm. Visit their website for pricing and holiday closures.
