August 2024 Events Taking Place in Utah

Summer might be winding down, but there is still plenty to do. Smokey Bear turns 80. Bluffdale, Clearfield, Snowbasin, and The Gateway are all hosting parties. And the venerable Moab Music Festival comes to town.

August 9

Smokey Bear 80th Birthday. In partnership with the Bureau of Land Management Utah, US Forest Service and the State of Utah, celebrate Smokey Bear’s 80th birthday preventing wildfires at the Draper Library, 116 E Pioneer Road, Draper, from 10am to noon. Fire trucks, a book walk, games and a meet and greet with Smokey with be part of the celebration.

August 10

Bluffdale Old West Days and Horse Expo. On Saturday, August 20 from 11am to 30m at the Bluffdale Rodeo Arena, 2400 W 14400 S, Bluffdale to meet the Horses of Bluffdale. There will be up-close demonstrations, and opportunities to help groom the horses. 

August 17

Clearfield City Bubble Party. Open to all at 55 South State Street, Clearfield. Meet on the Center St. Bridge, across from city  hall at 11am to celebrate the end of summer with a bubble-filled bridge. Free admission. Food vendors will be be on hand. 

August 17

Snowwiesn Oktoberfest. Starting August 17 from 12pm to 6pm at Snowbasin Resort, 3925 E Snowbasin Rd., Huntsville. This German-themed fall festival is named after d’Wiesen, the local nickname for Oktoberfest in Germany. It will feature Bavarian food, craft beer and drinks, live music, a local market, and activities. It will continue every Saturday and Sunday from August 17th through October 6th. 

August 17-18

Utah Beer Festival 2024. This year’s Utah Beer Festival will feature over 200 beers and ciders, along with hard seltzers, and kombuchas. Held each day from 2pm to 8pm at The Gateway. For more information go here.  

August 28 – September 14

Moab Music Festival. Held over various breathtaking venues with a variety of artists. This festival brings music to nature. For a list of concerts and how to get tickets go to their website
