Things to do in September

Happenings across the State include a storytelling festival in Lehi, a melon celebration in Green River, harvest moon in Ogden, all things Italian in Salt Lake, not to mention the Utah State Fair and the 10th Anniversary of FanX.

September 7-9

Timpanogas Storytelling Festival. Held at the Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi with premiere storytellers from across the country. The festival can also be accessed online and will be available from October 15, 2023 to February 1, 2024. Visit

September 7-17

Utah State Fair. The gates open Thursday, September 7, at noon. Check the Utah State Fair website for daily events and concert tickets. Popular events include Little Hands on the Farm – a hands-on activity for kids, livestock exhibits, produce exhibits, crafts and competitive exhibits and don’t forget the butter cow. Plenty to see, hear, and eat.

September 15-16

Green River Melon Days. This annual event, now 117 years old, celebrates the town’s melon varieties and their growers. This small town’s population swells as locals, families, friends, and visitors come together for events and lots of watermelon. Stay updated on events by following Melong Days on Facebook and Instagram. 

September 16

Harvest Moon Celebration 2023. Held from 12pm to 8pm in downtown Ogden, this annual event celebrates the end of summer with family-friendly activities, live music by local artists, vendors and more. Sponsored by the Ogden Downtown Alliance. 

September 16-17

Festa Italiana SLC. Two days of Italian culture, food, and music celebrations at The Gateway. Other highlights include a vintage bike ride, Italian beer & wine, arts & crafts, Italia cheese tasting, historical displays, Italian car show and pizza & pasta eating contests. This year proceeds will be contributed to Catholic Community Services to support their homeless and refugee outreach services.

FanX Salt Lake Pop Culture & Comic Convention. Join Salt Lake’s biggest party and help celebrate the 10th anniversary of FanX. Events include celebrity guests, vendors, cosplay, food, panels, and more.
