November

There are many volunteer opportunities in Salt Lake leading up to Thanksgiving. The Utah Food Bank will hold their Donate to the Holiday Food Drive. The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers for their Thanksgiving Meal deliveries for seniors and shut-ins. Salt Lake City Mission is looking for volunteer servers. Other places needing donations and volunteers include The Road Home, International Rescue Committee, Meals on Wheels, Women’s Resource Center, and Symbii Home Health and Hospice. 

November 2

Day of the Dead 2024 The Utah Cultural Celebration Center presents Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). The event features traditional Mexican dance & musical performances, traditional food, a beer garden, and a variety of complimentary hands-on activities for the whole family. The event takes place at Utah Cultural Celebration Center, 1355 West 3100 South West Valley City, from 11 am to 6 pm.

November 8

Living Planet Aquarium Lantern Festival. Runs from November until January, 2025. The Rio Tinto Kennecott Plaza features a display of towering animal and nature-inspired lanterns, some reaching over 20 feet in height. The exhibit includes interactive elements such as color-changing stomp lights, swings, light tunnels, and multiple spots designed for photos, offering a vibrant visual experience for visitors of all ages. The event takes place at Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, 12033 South Lone Peak Parkway, Draper.

November 9 

10th Annual Ogden’s Big Lebowski Festival. Celebrating 100 years of film in Utah, the Peery’s Egyptian Theater, 2415 Washington Blvd., will present a special screening of The Big Lebowski. This is the only Big Lebowski Festival in Utah and “west of the Mississippi.” The party starts at 5pm with vendors, swag, trivia, and cocktails. There will be a costume contest at 7pm and the movie will screen at 7:30pm. Tickets are General Admission $20-$25 and can be purchased in advance here.  

November 9

ILLUMINATE: Light Art + Creative Technology Festival. This festival celebrates the intersection between art and technology. Utah Arts Alliance works with a wide variety of artists, makers, performers, and community partners to showcase innovative creativity through large scale art pieces, an interactive STEAM Lab, drone shows, and multimedia artwork. Through ILLUMINATE, downtown SLC is turned into a canvas for light, art, technology, and innovation. Takes place from 5-11 pm at Library Square, Salt Lake City.

November 9

Winter Farmers Market. Urban Food Connections of Utah facilitates year-round connections between the community and local food producers. The Winter Market at The Gateway offers a variety of local goods, including produce, meat, eggs, cheese, baked items, sauces, condiments, chocolate, art, and crafts. The market opens on November 9th, running weekly from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM through April 19th (closed on November 30 and March 15) at The Gateway, located at 18 North Rio Grande Street.

November 9-10

Fluffernutter 2024 in Moab. This annual fall ultimate frisbee tournament is held at the Old Spanish Trail Arena, 3641 US-191, in Moab. A Standard Grass Hat tournament will start at 9am on November 9, followed by dinner and a tournament party at Gold Bar group campsite. On November 10 there will be beach frisbee at Gold Bar along the Colorado River. Register on their Facebook Page. 

November 11

Veterans Day Concert. This annual event will be held at the Tabernacle on Temple Square and will feature the Utah National Guard 23rd Army Band and a combined choir from Granite School District. Admission is free. Time is TBD. 

November 15

Open Mic Concert in Magna. This event features a variety of short performances, primarily centered on music, though other performing arts may also be included. Audience members may occasionally have the chance to participate. Performers, whether experienced or emerging, from across the area are welcome to contribute and can sign up on-site. This series has been co-produced by the Arts Council of Magna and the Magna Library for more than five years. The event takes place at 2675 South 8950 West, Magna from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.

Historic 25th Street in Ogden, Utah

November 16

A Taste of Ogden Tour. This walking tour will showcase Ogden’s emerging food scene and highlight the history of this former railroad town. Held at Downtown Ogden beginning at 1:15pm and going until 4pm, the price is $82, 

November 28

2024 Cold Turkey Run 6K and Kids 1K. The 6K race starts at 9am just Northeast of the State Capitol in Bonneville Blvd. From the start it will continue up city Creek Canyon for one mile, turn around and finish at Memory Grove. Kids 1K will start at 8:30am. There will be awards, food, massages, and live music. Registration is at their website.

November 29

Wheeler Farm’s Holiday Market 2024. This popular Holiday Market returns for the 2024 season, featuring a curated selection of artists, makers, and bakers in an annual shopping event that supports local small businesses. Admission is free. This three-day event takes place from November 29 (5 pm – 8 pm) to December 1st (9 am – 5 pm) at the Historic Wheeler Farm, 6351 South 900 East, Murray.
