What’s Happening in March in Utah?

Indoors or outdoors March has something for everyone. Star parties at the U, fly fishing films at Ogden Union Station, biking event, snowshoe tours, Easter scavenger hunt and a woodcarvers show at Wheeler Farm.

Star Parties

The South Physics Observatory on the University of Utah campus offers free public star parties on clear Wednesday nights. Open to all ages, interests, and groups. The observatory opens at 7pm, with changes as the sunset time changes. 

March 8

International Fly Fishing Film Festival. Held at Ogden Union Station, 2501 Wall Ave. Doors open at 6pm and the film begins at 7pm Tickets are $12 . This film festival helps with awareness of local rivers in Ogden and all proceeds benefit the preservation and maintenance of the rivers. 

March 9-12

Skinny Tire Festival in Moab. This biking event will take two days following the Colorado River corridor, both upstream and downstream. The other two days will climb the canyon roads into Dead Horse Point State Park and Arches National Park. To register visit the website

March 22-23

Great Salt Lake Woodcarvers Show and Competition. Held at Wheeler Farm from noon to 7pm on Friday, March 22nd, and 9am to 5pm on Saturday, March 23. General admission is $5 with discounts for seniors, groups of 10 or more and kids under 12. For more information visit the Great Salt Lake Woodcarvers web page

March 25

March Moonlight Snowshoe Tour. Held at the Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter, 1258 Center Park Drive, Park City from 8pm to 9:30pm. A Swaner Naturalist will take participants on a tour of the wetlands at night and to view the full moon. Tickets can be reserved here.

March 25, 26, 27

Scavenger Hunt style Easter event at Wheeler Farm. Participants will solve riddles and collect eggs to redeem for their basket as they explore the farm. There will be two levels of difficulty. Times at 4pm to 7pm each evening. This is a pre-registration event at slco.org
