May 2023 Events and Activities Taking Place in Utah

Here is a short list of fun activities and events taking place in Utah during May 2023.

May 12-13

Spring Plant Sale at Red Butte Garden. Friday is Member Benefit Day and pre-registration is required for limited space from 1 to 8pm. Saturday is open to the public from 9am to 3pm and registration is not required. The sale will be held at the Red Butte Amphitheatre on 2188 Red Butte Canyon Road. There will be selections of herbs, annuals, sun & shade perennials, ornamental grasses, roses, vines, shrubs, conifers, and trees. 

May 12-14

Kilby Court Block Party 2023. The fourth annual event is back in its biggest edition yet. Held at the Utah State Fairpark, 155 N 1000 W, the festival will include dozens of bands and lots of entertainment. Gates open at noon daily. 

May 15

FHE Board Game Night at Pizza Volta. Event by Doug Cahoon and Utah Board Game Events. Held at Pizza Volta in Sugar House, 1080 E 2100 S from 5 to 9pm. This is a free event with food options and $5 draft beer specials. Featured game is Cosmic Encounter by Fantasy Flight, and is a game for 3-6 players. Other games will also be available. 

May 18

Great Salt Lake Bird Festival. This will be the 25th Anniversary of the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival in Farmington. This is a family friendly event and a chance to practice and learn about bird-watching. You can register here for dinner and field trips. Held at the Eccles Education Center — Utah Division of Wildlife, 1157 South Waterfowl Way, Farmington. 

May 20

The Mountain’s Call. Enjoy live acoustic music in Ogden’s mountains. There are hidden places and sanctuaries for the Mudu Anzu, away from the city below. Meet at the top of 27th Street at 1:30pm and listen for sounds of flutes and drums and then follow them. Find a guide for a 30-45 minute hike where you will find shade and small caves. Pack a lunch and enjoy music, a hike, and the natural beauty. 

May 27-28

Moab Art Festival. Held at Swanny Park, 400 N 100 W, Moab, this event will feature art, music, food, beer & wine garden, and a kids’ art tent. Hours are 10am to 6pm each day.

    SLC Eatery is set to close at the end of September with plans for private events and pop ups to continue. Fleming’s Social Hour hosts special pricing from 4 to 6pm. Arlo is featuring a Wine Dinner to September 26th.


  • Utah Loses One of Its Top Jam Makers

    Amour Spreads, famous for its game-changing Pear Lavender jam, is closing its doors indefinitely. The announcement came via Instagram, where they revealed they need time to reassess their future while expressing heartfelt thanks to their loyal supporters. Fans have until the end of the month to stock up, with their final market appearance on September 21 and a chance to grab remaining jars at Picnic, the newly renamed Amour Cafe.
