Witchfest at Gardner Village, 1100 W 7800 S. This is a celebration of everything “witch,” complete with witch displays, a scavenger hunt, breakfast with a witch, Witchapalooza Music Dinner Theater, a witches 5K and Witches Night Out. Open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 8 pm.

October 11 – 12
Creatures of the Night at Ogden Nature Center, 966 W 12th Street. Two nights of educational outdoor adventures. Held each day from 5 to 8:30 pm the cost is $6 for Ogden Nature Center members and $8 for non-members. All ages welcome to meet live owls, snakes, and spiders along with trailside tales, a campfire, face painting, nature crafts, carnival games, and more.

Strut Your Mutt at Liberty Park, 600 E 900 S – NW Corner. Best Friends Animal Society along with partner rescue groups, shelters, and animal welfare groups are teaming up to help save the lives of homeless cats and dogs. All funds go directly to life-saving programs such as spay and neuter services, adoption events and more. The walk starts at 12 pm and the events ends at 4 pm. Early registration is available at their website .

Author-Con at Mountain America Expo Center, 9575 S State Street. This event brings worldwide authors and their readers together. Authors from all genres will showcase their work. The event will include book signings, public appearances, author panes, concessions and photo ops. Tickets are available at Eventbrite.

Moab Senior Games. Plan a trip and compete in golf, pickleball, swimming, tennis, and more. For more information and registration visit

2019 Monster Block Party at the Gallivan Center, 239 S Main Street, Salt Lake City. Opens at 11 am and continues until 3 pm. This is a free, daytime Halloween festival for Salt Lake City’s goblins and ghouls of all ages. Events include trick-or-treating booths, a costume contest with prizes, free arts and crafts, a pumpkin drop, live music, dance, and more,

October 26 – 27
Scottish Festival 2019 hosted by First Presbyterian Church of Salt Lake City, 12 C Street, Salt Lake City, and Scottish Festival at First Presbyterian Church. This family-friendly event on Saturday, October 26 starting at 9 am, will include a Highland dance competition, bake sale with Scottish shortbread, Salt Lake Scots bagpipe concert, and more. On Sunday, October 27 starting at 12 pm the First Presbyterian Church hosts a special worship service called the Kirkin’ o’ Th’ Tartan (Blessing of the Clans). Clans from the Salt Lake area will present their tartan to be blessed by the pastor. Admission is free and open to the public.
