Several Moab business owners including Karen Whipple say February proved to be extremely slow, especially compared to last year in Moab. This was due to the cold and the snow which was on the ground longer than residents had seen it there in years.

Mid-March business picked up significantly due to Canyonlands Marathon and regularly scheduled plans of many visitors.

Moab’s La Sal Mountains are the major part of South Easter Utah snowpack which currently stands at 199% of normal. This will make for a big watter year for Moab’s river rafting companies including Canyon Vojages, NAVTEC Expeditions, Moab Adventure Center, Sheri Griffith Expeditions, Oars, Adrift Adventures and a few more.

Utah Stories Regular Moab Section

Consequently, due to this excess snow, we were unable to bring you our regularly scheduled Moab story. Instead, we present some nice photos of my dogs in Millcreek Canyon in the 100″ of snow that dumped there in February.

Valley floor of Moab received about 24″ of snow in February. This prevented us from photographing our planned story.

Our Moab section will begin in April.
