You don’t have to hop a jet to find jet-setter style. Utah’s Flight boutique is all you need to upgrade your everyday wardrobe or find a one-of-a-kind look for that special occasion. This niche boutique makes you feel right at home and swanky all at once—which is no easy task. It’s refreshing to find a shop that gives off an exclusive vibe without alienating “regular” folks.
I could feel the high-end trendy vibe as soon as I crossed the threshold, but I was instantly put at ease by store manager Sarah Pagels. Sarah came to Flight from Free People, and she’s happy she made the switch to a local company. “I think it’s so important to support small business,” Sarah said. “Especially a woman-owned small business.”
Born from a desire to serve fashionistas along the Wasatch Front, Kristen Doyon and Blaire Isleib joined forces to open their flagship store on Park City’s Main Street in 2009. Last December the duo expanded to Trolley Square.
Kristen and Blaire make the world’s latest trends and styles readily available—and there’s no global travel (or exorbitant price tags) required. While you won’t find bargain basement prices at Flight, I was impressed by the wide selection of affordable items that could fit almost any budget.
“Kristen and Blaire do all the buying and they have a such a great eye. They go to all the trade shows and come back with amazing products that are a little more fashion-forward,” Sarah said. “And we try to keep the price point reasonable so it’s really about having something to offer everyone.”
Located next to Whole Foods, Flight takes you to another world. The store partnered with local interior design firm cityhomeCOLLECTIVE to create a space that reflects the feeling and aesthetic of accessible luxury. That’s why I wasn’t surprised to find a gaggle of customers who seemed happy to lounge and laugh while just one member of the group sampled the wares. (If there’d been a tray of complimentary champagne, it would have been just like a rom-com montage.)
But it’s not just fashion that drives Flight. The store actively promotes other local retailers. Flight has partnered with fellow Trolley Square businesses to create memorable events. From yoga classes (with Corepower Yoga) to braiding bars (complements of STYLD’ Blow Dry Bar), Flight offers a little something for everyone’s fashion-forward inner self.
“We’ve had three events in the past month or so,” Sarah said. “Our most recent was yoga Sunday, and that had a great turnout. It’s all about promoting community.” Plus—they offered a 30% in-store discount on workout wear that day.
So, if you’re looking for something to please that picky person on your holiday shopping list, make sure Flight is on your list of shops to consider. And—if you’ve got holiday parties to attend—you can’t do better than one of Flight’s unique, specialty pieces. Whether it’s a pair of killer leopard-print booties or a sparkling sequined mini dress, Flight has you covered.
To find out about their latest events and upcoming holiday specials (or to fulfill your fashion dreams without leaving home) go to their website, or pop into a store and join their email list.
