February Fun Guide—What to do in Utah

Things to Do in February:

February 5-10—Moab Music Festival’s Winterlude. The Moab Music Festival presents its third annual Winterlude, a week of chamber music concerts and educations workshops in conjunction with Utah State University’s Fry Street Quartet and local youth music programs. Visit their website for more information.

February 8—Buzzword: An Adult Spelling Bee. Put your spelling skills on display at this competition hosted by The City Library. 25 participants will be randomly selected at the event to compete. Prizes will be given to top contestants with a grand prize and trophy to the champion. Held at the Urban Lounge, 241 S 500 E, Salt Lake City. The event starts at 6:30pm and admission is free.

February 14—Wild Wednesday: Wild Romance: A Special Valentine’s Day Program at the Ogden Nature Center, 966 W 12th Street, Ogden from 3:45 to 4:30pm. Do animals flirt with each other? Find out at a the Ogden Nature Center’s Valentine program. Discover how birds and reptiles attract a partner. Meet in the Visitor Center. $5 adults/$4 seniors/$3 Kids 2-11.

February 17—Writing for Change: Letter Writing. Presented by SLCC Community Writing Center at the Salt Lake City Public Library Main Branch, 210 E 400 S, Salt Lake City. Learn techniques of writing for change through letter to editors and public officials. Come with a concern and stay to write a letter with the help of the CWC writing coaches. The event will be held from 10am to 12pm in the conference room located on the fourth floor of the City Library. Admission is free and no registration is required.

February 17—Chinese New Year Celebration at Salt Lake County Library Viridian Event Center. This event will be held from 1-4pm to celebrate Chinese culture and the Year of the Dog with local artists and community members. Performers include Lion Dance, Folk Music, Qipao (旗袍) Show, Tai Chi Show, Dragon Dance and more. Activities include bilingual storytime, origami, calligraphy, chess, lantern making, and more. Salt Lake County Animal Services (and a few dogs) will be at the event promoting Love Your Pet Month and pet adoption. Viridian Event Center is located at 8030 S 1825 W, West Jordan.
