Red Butte Events, National Parks and Utah Theater

There is plenty to do around the state from National Park free admission days to Eccles Broadway theater.

Delicate Arch in Arches National Park near Moab. February 20th is a Service Fee Free Day for National Parks. There will be several days throughout 2017 to visit a National Park without fees.

February 8th: Moab Music Festival Winterlude Concert at Dead Horse Point State Park. This free event will begin at noon and feature the University of Utah’s Michie Graduate String Quartet performing at the visitor center. A light lunch and optional guided trail walk (1 mile round trip) will follow. Seating is limited. To reserve a seat call the Moab Music Festival Box Office at 435 259-7003.

February 18th: Entry deadline for the Red Butte Garden poetry contest. April is National Poetry Month and to celebrate, Red Butte Garden is asking you to share your nature-inspired poetry. Drop your entry into one of the Garden’s 11 poetry boxes.

February 18th: Habitat for Humanity’s Garage Sale Fundraiser in Ogden at 980 20th St. This will be a huge indoor garage sale starting at 10 am. Everything at the warehouse is for sale at discounted prices; furniture, pots, pans, household items etc. All proceeds go toward home building and repair in the local community.

February 20th: National Park Service Fee Free Day. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks and Hovenweep and Natural Bridges National Monuments join national parks across the country in waiving entrances fees for several days throughout 2017.

February 21st to February 23rd: Banff Film Festival featuring outdoor films. Held at Kingsbury Hall on the University of Utah campus. Admission is $14 for adults, $10 for students and $12 for those 18 years and under. Packages are available. The film series begins at 7 pm.

February 24th: Night owling at Sundance. Professionals will take participants on a guided snowshoe tour around Mount Timpanogos. Experts will call for owls along the trail and use live owls to teach about local wildlife. Price includes the guided tour, snowshoe rental and use of trails. Tour starts at the Nordic Center. Start time is 6:30 pm and the price is $45 per person.

February 25th: Red Butte Garden Volunteer Fair and Open House from 11 am to 1 pm. Meet the staff and learn about volunteer opportunities. For ages 14 and up.
