Germans built the bikes, but we built the roads. A group of BMW riding tourists from Bavaria are combining the best of both countries. They started in Las Vegas and are heading in a big loop around Nevada, Arizona and Utah. Why are they, and an amazingly large number of European motorcyclists here? “Some people make a pilgrimage to Santo Domingo in Spain to see the cathedrals. We make our pilgrimage to Highway 12,” said one man. “It’s incredible to see so much wide open space. There aren’t a lot of places on earth as spectacular as this.” We agree.
