Camping, ahh, the great outdoors – good food, friends and fun.

Camping? Bugs, sunburn and outhouses.

What if someone took the first idea, forgot the second, and called it the Campfire Lounge in Sugar House? Seth Radford and Haylen LaTorre, owners of the former Bayleaf Bar and Grill on Main Street, are opening their new restaurant to reflect the coziness they believe is a hallmark of the neighborhood.

“We were camping,” says LaTorre,”We were sitting there and said ‘Oh, I really like this campfire lounging. Campfire Lounge! That’s it!’”

Radford says,”We live in Sugar House. We want a place where you can stroll in and know everybody in the room, be recognized by the staff by name, a warm feeling and intimate setting. A nice place to stop on your way home or on a Saturday.”

Latorre says downtown SLC has changed in the three years they ran Bayleaf. “When City Creek opened we got a lot of people who came because they had to wait three hours for Cheesecake Factory. I’d rather people know us, and like what we are doing and want to support local business.”

The menu includes such outdoor favorites as Hobo Dinner, which is cooked in foil, and, can you believe it? S’mores! Eight local beers are also on tap.
