Everett Ruess at Ken Sanders Rare Books
December 9 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm$10
It’s been 85 years since Everett Ruess disappeared in the Utah desert, and 2019 has been the year of Everett Ruess-inspired events at Ken Sanders Rare Books. In August, Ken organized a deluxe rafting expedition on the Green River through Desolation Canyon, followed by a concert in-shop, featuring two multi-talented performers: Local singer-songwriter and fiddle-inspired violinist Kate MacLeod, and French filmmaker, journalist and musician Emmanuel Tellier. Emmanuel was in town to attend the North American premieres of his documentary La Disparition d’Everett Ruess, which played a packed Escalante Showhouse, Star Hall in Moab, and Nancy Tessman Auditorium in Salt Lake City.
Ken Sanders Rare Books has received many requests for additional screenings, and we’re thrilled to announce one final screening before the release of the film on DVD. Emmanuel Tellier will be in attendance. This event will take place at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, on Monday, December 9 at 7 pm. Tickets are $10 each. La Disparition will be screened with English subtitles.
We are also excited to announce an encore of last summer’s Kate and Emmanuel concert! On Sunday, December 8 at 5pm, we will be hosting a fundraiser concert for Kate’s recording project of Utah-inspired music, including a new Everett Ruess-inspired song. Kate will be accompanied on piano by Emmanuel Tellier. Tickets are $15, and each ticket purchase comes with a complimentary CD, to be issued when the CD is released.
Ken Sanders Rare Books is a full-service antiquarian bookshop in downtown Salt Lake City.
