Indian Food Fair 2026
Lovers of authentic Indian cuisine – and I’m one of them – will want to mark your calendars for Saturday, August 15, 2026. That’s when the 7th Annual Indian Food Fair will take place at Liberty Park from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
According to the organizers, “Indian Food Fair Food and Market Vendors bring this celebration to life, filling the air with the aroma of sizzling spices, fresh herbs, sweet treats, and handcrafted treasures. From authentic regional cuisines to vibrant cultural merchandise, each vendor adds their own flavor to this unforgettable experience.”

WasteLess Solutions Second Chance Dance
The folks at non-profit WasteLess Solutions’ mission is to work “together to provide sustenance and promote a healthy planet by preventing edible food waste. We are committed to making a significant reduction in food waste by educating consumers and food entities on the issue and solutions as well as by offering a food diversion program that engages our community to help rescue edible food and get it to the food insecure in our community.”
“In Utah over 600,000 tons of edible food rots in our landfills annually, while 445,000 Utahns face hunger. WasteLess is a nonprofit organization started in 2018 to combat the social and environmental impacts of food waste. WasteLess started with the goal of taking action to help reduce the amount of food waste in our community, and to date, we have saved over 2.5M meals to individuals facing food insecurity within Salt Lake, Box Elder, Summit, and Weber Counties.”
Early bird tickets are on sale through July 17 for WasteLess Solutions’ Second Chance Dance, which will take place at the Murray Armory on August 17, 2026 from 6 PM to 9 PM.
The fundraiser will sport a thrifted/vintage theme featuring rescued food prepared by local chefs, music and dancing, drinks, games, and a silent auction.
Good News/Bad News at Dakine Grindz
Fans of Ogden’s Dakine Grindz, specializing in Hawaiian and Filipino cuisine, will be saddened to learn that they have closed their Ogden location, permanently. That’s the bad news.
The good news is that you can still visit Dakine Grindz at their Main Street, Sunset location and that Dakine Grindz will soon be coming to Layton.
