Downtown Farmers Market Returns

The Downtown Farmers Market returned to Pioneer Park on Saturday, June 6th and runs every Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm through October 24th.

Folks at The Downtown Alliance said, “The Market arrives at the peak of early summer harvest, and shoppers will find every reason to rejoice on opening day: spring greens, radishes, snap peas, herbs, and the first of the season’s sweet corn will fill vendor stalls from week one. No grocery store can compete with the just-picked freshness of our farmers. For our small and family-owned farms, a strong season at the Market can be the difference between a profitable year and a struggling one.”

“Vegetables will be plentiful. However, Utah’s fruit-growers were hit hard by a late freeze that devastated orchards across the state. Many of the Market’s cherished fruit farmers, who have shown up to Pioneer Park for decades and who grow the cherries, pears, plums, peaches, and apples that regulars look forward to all year, saw their crops wiped out. While the trees will recover some of your favorite fruits will be in short supply.”

“This season, they’re pivoting — offering fruit jams and preserves, fresh-pressed apple slush, and the apple cider donuts Market-goers love. They’re resilient and they need your support now more than ever.”

Celebrating its 35th year, the Downtown Farmers Market launched in 1992 as a handful of produce stands and has grown into the state’s largest farmers’ market, drawing more than 10,000 visitors every weekend. It has served as a launchpad for some of Salt Lake’s most celebrated businesses – from Bruges Waffles and The Bagel Project to Saffron Valley and Laziz Kitchen – and remains one of the most significant weekly community gatherings in Utah. Happy shopping!
