A second location of La Casa Del Tamal has opened in Salt Lake City’s Post District, bringing its full menu of traditional Mexican dishes downtown. La Casa Del Tamal Now Open Downtown

I have been a big fan of La Casa Del Tamal in West Valley City for a few years and reviewed this fine Mexican eatery for Utah Bites in 2021. Here is a link to that article.

Well, I’m happy to report that a second La Casa Del Tamal is now open – this one located downtown in the Post District at 346 W. 600 South in SLC, open Monday through Saturday; closed Sundays.

It goes without saying that La Case Del Tamal features terrific tamales, both sweet and savory. But there is so much more, like the molcajete, mole poblano, costillas de puerco, birria de res, carne asada with grilled cactus, camarones a la Diabla, ceviche, menudo, tortas, tacos, beer, cocktail, agua frescas, and much more.

Park City Creamery Sold

With an eye towards retirement, Park City Creamery owner and head fromager Corinne Zinn has sold her Park City Creamery to Ballerina Farm, founded by Hannah and Daniel Neeleman.

Speaking to the Park Record, Zinn said “My idea in the beginning was to start a business, make it run properly, have the right employees, and since I started that in my late 50s, I’m getting near retirement, so the idea was to sell and retire,” she said. “I posted a few months ago for sale, and I thought it’s going to take probably a year or two before it will be gone. But Ballerina Farm got very interested, and they jumped on it.”

Ballerina Farm will now produce the same cheeses that Zinn did, but under its own brand, made with milk from its 42 cows.

All New Library Bar at Sundance

Since I began writing about food and drink back in 1994, the Tree Room at Sundance Resort has been one of my favorite dining destinations.

Well, it just got even better with the new addition of the Tree Room Library Bar, located just within the entryway to the Tree Room restaurant. For many years the space was a private dining room, “Beautiful, but a bit closed off,” said a Sundance representative.

“We’ve long held the dream of making the space something more guests could enjoy. Finally, the project is complete. The space is in keeping with the artful legacy of the neighboring Tree Room, with a few fun flourishes rounding out the feel.”

Most notably, the back of the Tree Room’s fireplace was opened up to warm the Library Bar too. Guests are invited to come enjoy a small bite and finely crafted drink after a day on the slopes or before a Tree Room meal amidst an expansive collection of interesting art and nature books.
