Mama Bird Opens in Jordan Landing

Mama Bird, a Southern comfort-style restaurant made its debut in Jordan Landing last week.

Mama Bird welcomes guests for breakfast, lunch and supper with bold flavors, affordable dishes and comfortable spaces. The expansive, 8,000-square-foot restaurant features the central and lively Gathering Room, cozy Hearth Room, intimate Bourbon Library & Bar and the Veranda Room, a fully private space with adjacent patio for parties large and small.

Their menu is extensive (with a portion of proceeds from desserts now helping to feed families this holiday season with the Utah Food Bank) and includes a “charming front-of-house shop, offering house-made Liam’s Ginger Beer and scratch jams, whimsical gifts and artisan goods”, on top of housing a comfortable atmosphere for the community to enjoy.

Born from the Texas roots and pitmaster passion of co-founders Jeffrey and Liam Frederick, and scaled by Ascend Hospitality Group (AHG), Mama Bird follows the success of the Las Vegas flagship location.

“Utah embodies the spirit of what we do at AHG — the mountains inspire us to reach higher, the open spaces invite real connection, and the people here still believe in gathering around a table that matters,” said Elaina Morris, founder and CEO of AHG. “That’s the genuine, heartfelt hospitality AHG delivers daily, and I couldn’t be more excited to grow Mama Bird in the Salt Lake Valley, as well as the rest of the brands in our portfolio.”

Southern-inspired standout dishes at Mama Bird include Mama’s Fried Chicken Sandwich, Shrimp & Grits, All-American Double B Brisket Burger, Blackened Catfish, Mama’s Butcher Board with various cuts of steak, Three unique takes on Mama’s Not So Old Fashioned and Sweet Treats like Watermelon Soft Serve and Hummingbird Cake Jar, with a portion of proceeds from desserts helping to feed families this holiday season with the Utah Food Bank.

“Mama Bird is built on scratch cooking done with care and from the fire of my son Liam’s pitmaster heart,” added Jeffrey Frederick. “Bringing this legacy to West Jordan with Elaina and AHG means more neighbors, more stories and more plates passed across the table.”

New Burger Bar at Stein’s

For the 2025-26 ski season, Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley is debuting a brand-new dining experience designed especially for skiers and mountain adventurers: Stein Burger, a dedicated burger concept serving delicious classics in a convenient slopeside setting.

According to Executive Chef Zane Holmquist and his culinary team, “Stein Burger brings one of the Lodge’s most-loved menu items, its iconic burger, to a home of its own. Inspired by the simple pleasure of a great meal enjoyed in the mountains, the new venue combines a food-truck-style concept with a winter-ready heated yurt, offering both grab-and-go ease and a comfortable place to warm up.”

Mountain dining often walks a fine line between speed and quality. Skiers often want food that’s fast, satisfying, and easy to enjoy without sacrificing precious time on the hill. The Stein Burger food truck was created with that exact spirit in mind.

The folks at Stein’s added, “Serving a menu built around fresh, high-quality ingredients, the experience is intentionally uncomplicated: handcrafted burgers cooked to perfection, crispy golden fries, fresh salads, and a selection of canned cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options. Whether you’re fueling up for the afternoon or grabbing a casual après-ski bite, the menu offers something for everyone.”

“While the food truck makes Stein Burger instantly accessible for skiers on the move, the winter season brings an added layer of comfort with a newly introduced heated yurt, offering seating for approximately 40 guests. This warm, inviting space gives skiers the chance to take a real break, shedding a few layers, relaxing with friends or family, and savoring a meal before heading back into the snow. It’s a thoughtful addition that elevates Stein Burger beyond a quick pit stop and transforms it into a true mid-mountain retreat.”
