Even scarier than Frankenstein is the prospect of what happens when nobody gets involved in local politics and local civics.
Not knowing what’s going on in your community results in people and political leaders turning into zombies.
The problem with the corporate takeover of our communities is that you become the product.
Our state and city leaders sell YOU to the highest bidder, whether it be Scheels, Walmart, or an Amazon fulfillment center.
What’s wrong with this city economic development model?
Well, giant corporations do provide jobs, but they do not provide significant job stability or security. Corporations receive massive tax abatements to invest in communities while local businesses get nothing.
Is this a free and fair market?
Corporate fast food and big-box stores traded on Wall Street do not recirculate dollars within local economies they enrich shareholders at the expense of local economies.
Giant corporations do not foster sovereignty for individuals and individual business owners, nor do they create vibrant and healthy local economies.
Do you want strong local communities? Or do you want a community full of developer/politicians controlled by their corporate masters and brainwashed zombie consumers who obey their corporate programming and propaganda?
Do you want communities where kids can play outside in safe and healthy environments? Or unsafe neighborhoods where kids remain inside their homes in front of screens all day?
If we become more involved in civics and local issues, we can control the destiny of Utah’s communities.
If we don’t, and we allow the corporate owned politicians to control the destiny we get communities filled with giant Wall Street, corporations very few local businesses, and local economies dependent upon giant corporations for their tax revenue.
