Now Open: Central By Saffron Valley

Restaurateur Lavanya Mahate’s newest venture – Central By Saffron Valley – is now open in downtown SLC. She describes the eatery in this way: “Central is a love letter to India’s golden age of railway travel. Chai steaming on platforms, tiffins passed between train windows, stories shared across compartments — that warmth and wonder is what we bring to Salt Lake City.”

Hence, the immersive train station theme and decor that “takes guests on a journey through India’s diverse flavors.” An especially unique aspect of the new restaurant is that service is supported by a robot waitstaff.

Starters at Central include items like Kebabs, Chaat, Tandoori Lamb Chops, Naan, Puri, Poppadams, Samosas, and much more. Entrees run the gamut from Malabar Fish Curry, Saag Paneer, and favorites like Chicken Tikka Masala, to Lamb Shank Rogan Josh, Bengali Shrimp Curry, Asparagus Uthappam, Biryani, and many others.

Central By Saffron Valley is located at 454 E. 300 South and open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday.
