What’s Happening in Utah This August? Festivals, Concerts, and Outdoor Fun

Utah comes alive in August with concerts at Temple Square, Craft Lake City, opera in the park, food festivals, car shows, and a music-filled Moab escape.

August

Live Concerts at Brigham Young Historic Park and Conference Center Rooftop at Temple Square. Friday night concerts are at Brigham Young Historic Park every Friday night. Saturday evening concerts will be held on the rooftop of the Conference Center, featuring a variety of music styles. Events are open to the public and tickets are not required. August 8-10

The annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival is coming August 8th through August 10th at the Utah State Fairpark, 155 N 1000 W. This is Utah’s largest local-centric art, music, science, and technology festival with more than 500 local artisans, vintage vendors, youth entrepreneurs, performers and more. Hours are 5 pm to 10 pm on August 8, 12 pm to 10 pm on August 9, and 12 pm to 6 pm on August 10. Tickets can be purchased here.  

August 11

Park City Opera in Park City Park. This is a free, outdoor event at the City Park Bandstand, 1312 Sullivan Road, Park City. Bring a picnic and your dogs to enjoy opera and vocal chamber music. Visit their website for more information and a lineup. Presented in partnership with Mountain Town Music.

August 13

The Opera in Utah lecture by Benjamin Beckman. This is a free event presented by Park City Historical Society and Museum at Park City Museum Education and Collections Center. Held from 5 to 6 pm at 2079 Sidewinder Drive, Park City. More info here.

August 15

Antelope Island Spider Fest 2025. Held from 3 pm to 9 pm at the Antelope Island Marina. Happenings will include spider-themed presentations, crafts, guided walks, community science, food, and more. Park entrance fees apply. 

August 16

FuelFest 2025 at the Utah State Fairpark. Includes a massive car show, concert, special guests, drifting with ride-alongs, Taste of Tokyo, guest drivers, and more. Held from 1 pm to 8 pm. Purchase tickets at their website.

August 16

Taste of Ogden Food and History Walking Tour. This tour will showcase Ogden’s food scene and the history of this former railroad town. Held at Downtown Ogden and open to teens and adults. Cost is $82 with more information here.

August 22-23

Grillfest on Midvale’s Historic Main Street, August 22 to August 23. This is a two-day celebration of regional metal and rock, food, and local business. Created by Judicator frontman, John Yelland to commemorate “cultural revival, DIY spirit, and food-fueled party.” Yelland’s hope is this will become an annual event. Tickets available .

August 27-September 12

The Moab Music Festival’s 33rd Season runs from August 27 to September 12, 2025, with new executive director, Mette Bryndum. Includes 33 artists appearing in 20 performances in outdoor and historic venues, including grotto, ranch, and float concerts, music hikes, and rafting trips. Highlights include debuts by Sierra Hull, seven-time GRAMMY-winning bassist Edgar Meyer, People of Earth, pianist Inon Barnatan, cellist Joshua Roman, celebrity author and chef Kenji López-Alt, and a world premiere Moab Music Festival commission by composer-in-residence Viet Cuong. August 29-30

Midway Swiss Days. Presented by Midway Town Hall. This long-standing festival and celebration brings food, entertainment, vendors, and a parade. Live musical performances, dance shows and family-friendly activities are also on hand. 8 am to 8 pm on Friday and 8 am to 7 pm on Saturday. Admission is free. 

Coming Up

She Who Creates Retreats. Consisting of hands-on workshops for creating journals and journaling, movement classes, time for reflection. Choose from three retreat dates in September. Details will be mailed in a welcome packet. Visit the website to register.
