Chef Dinners and Openings in Utah: Urban Hill, Weller’s, and Franck’s

Three standout events are shaping Utah’s spring dining scene: a chef collaboration at Urban Hill, Weller’s Ogden opening, and a wine dinner at Franck’s.

Urban Hill Chef Collaboration Dinner

On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the Urban Hill culinary team invites guests to join Executive Chef Nick Zocco and Post Office Place Executive Chef Brandon Kawakami for a special Chef Collaboration Dinner. The evening will include “six expertly crafted courses, each perfectly paired with exquisite wines and cocktails.

The Chef Collaboration Dinner begins at 6:00 PM and is priced at $215 per person ($145/food; $70/beverages). 

Weller’s Ogden Scheduled for June

Jan Weller, owner of Weller’s Bistro in Layton, shared an update on the progress for the new Weller’s Bistro being built in Ogden. 

Jan wrote, “Curious about our second location?? Here are some progress pictures for you! The remodel is rather extensive and it has been quite the project with lots of curveballs.”

“That being said, the project is scheduled to be completed in June and we are so excited for this new location to open soon.”

Weller’s Bistro in Ogden will be located on Historic 25th Street at The Monarch in the space that was previously home to WB’s Eatery. 

Lorenza Wine Dinner at Franck’s

I am a big fan of Lorenza wines from Napa Valley. Lorenza is a woman-owned winery with an interesting origin story. According to the winery, “Lorenza originated from a shared love of Provence Rosé by co-founders Melinda Kearney and Michèle Ouellet [Melinda’s daughter]. A beautiful glass of wine and all its intricacies was not new for the mother-daughter duo. As a wine and food-obsessed family living in Napa Valley they were in pursuit of the perfect rosé to pair with everything and the summer feelings it evoked.”

Winemaker Melinda Kearney speaks of her winemaking vision saying, “My vision was to make a beautiful, intentional rosé in California that would evoke the wines we loved from France. Rosé, in all its wonder, was a delightful part of our ongoing conversation as a family although good California rosé was rare at the time in 2008. I wanted to share my wine knowledge and business experience with my daughter as she embarked on a global modeling career. Remarkably she agreed.”

Well, if you’d like to enjoy a range of Lorenza wines during a gourmet meal, Franck’s restaurant is hosting a Loranza Wine Dinner on Tuesday, April 29th, 2025. It will be a 5-course dinner paired with the elegant, expressive wines of Lorenza. The menu looks like this: 

The cost for the Loranza Wine Dinner at Franck’s is $120 per person for food and wine pairings or $80 for food only.
