Derby Day at High West

The whiskey wizards at the High West Saloon in Park City invite guests 21 and over to join them for Derby Day on Saturday, May 3rd from 2 to 6 pm. 

“Dust off your hats and bowties and flaunt your most fabulous Derby Day fashion – Derby at the Saloon is back and better than ever! The beloved event returns to the High West Saloon on Saturday, May 3rd, and you won’t want to miss it.”

“Kick things off with a Derby cocktail (many many Mint Juleps, of course), graze on hors d’oeuvres, and indulge in a buffet that’s a winner on its own. Current’s New Chef

Fans (like me) of the recently shuttered SLC Eatery will be thrilled to know that SLC Eatery Chef-Partner Logen Crew has resurfaced at Current Fish & Oyster after a brief hiatus. Here is what the folks at Current had to say. 

“Chef Logen Crew has returned to Current Fish & Oyster as the new Executive Chef, bringing his wealth of experience and culinary expertise back to the restaurant where he originally created Current’s menu back in 2015. With a career spanning top kitchens in Utah, including Fresco Italian Café, Log Haven, and Trio Restaurant Group, Logen has consistently demonstrated his exceptional talent and drive. We are very excited to have him back with us at Current!”

For my money, Logen is as talented as any chef operating in Utah and I, for one, can’t wait to see what he has in store for the menu at Current. 

Avenues Proper 12th Anniversary Dinner

Chef Jeff Springer and the gang at Avenues Proper are celebrating their 12th anniversary with a special 12 Year Anniversary Dinner on Monday, April 28, 2025 and you’re invited. The evening kicks off with an opening cocktail at 5:30 pm: Peach ‘Noon Tea & Dented Brick Pomegranate Lemonade Vodka. 

Dinner begins with a Pretzel Roll with mostarda whipped butter and tomato whipped butter, paired with Steamy Wonder – Rye Steam Ale. 

The next course is Sushi – tuna and kimchi – paired with East Side Paradise Japanese Rice Lager. 

The sushi will be followed by a salad course of Radicchio with mango vinaigrette, pickled ramps, and iceberg lettuce, paired with Mega Yacht Rock Juice Box – Juicy IPA. 

Next up is an Intermezzo with OG ‘Noon Tea, pomegranate gremolata and fried sage. 

The main course will be Duck with sweet potato hash and Bordelaise, paired with Balkansko-Balkan Style Lager. 

Dessert is Creme Brulee with rhubarb sugar and burnt berry dust, paired with 2017 Geol-Barrel Aged Barleywine. 

The cost for the 12 Year Anniversary Dinner at Avenues Proper is $65/food and $25/alcohol, per person.
