Utah December Events 2024: Christmas Village, Candlelight Christmas, and New Year’s Eve Celebrations

Step into a world of holiday magic with Utah’s December events—experience sparkling Christmas villages, lively markets, torchlight parades, and unforgettable New Year’s Eve celebrations.

December

The Christmas Village 2024 in Ogden. The displays will run through January 1, 2025, and lights are turned on daily at 5pm. The Christmas Village is free for all visitors. Children can see Santa, ride trains, and enjoy entertainment. Find the Christmas Village in Downtown Ogden at 343 25th Street.  

Christmas Cruise at the CLAS Ropes Course, 3606 W Center, Provo. Take a boat ride on the Provo River with festive decorations, thousands of lights, and Christmas music. Santa will also be on hand with Christmas candy. Rides are limited to 40 people per ride and takes between 20 to 25 minutes. Days and times vary through December 23. Visit their website to sign up. 

December 6-30

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical! At Salt Lake Acting Company, 168 W 500 N. This kid-friendly theater experience will be held throughout December. The story is based on Mo Willems’ bestselling books in a play with a mix of actors, puppets, and feathers. Tickets are available on the Salt Lake Acting Company website.

December 10-23

Candlelight Christmas at This is the Place Heritage Park. Step back in time to celebrate Christmas as it was a century ago with the Heritage Carolers and the scents of Christmas. Father Christmas will be on hand. A live Nativity will be presented. Shops and food establishments will be open. Hours are 5pm to 9pm.

December 14

Cocoa and Cookies with Mrs. Claus at Red Butte Garden. Held from 1pm to 2:30. Includes ornament decoration, Santa letters, cocoa and a treat. Buy tickets here.

December 14

The Official Christmas Bar Crawl – Salt Lake City – 7th Annual. Held from 4pm to 11:59pm starting at Twist Bar, 32 Exchange Place. There is a required check-in from 4pm to 6pm. The crawl will wind through some of Salt Lake City’s top bars with lots of music, laughter and holiday cheer. There will be festive drinks and deck-out bars. Get tickets at eventbrite.com

December 18

Utah Stories Storytelling Contest at Dali Crepes Exclusive in Cottonwood Heights. Held at 7pm. The story theme is Christmas Mystery. Get tickets here.

December 21-22

 Winter Solstice Bazaar. This event will be at Millcreek Commons, 1354 E Chambers Ave. on Saturday from 5pm to 9pm and Sunday from 11am to 6pm. There will be makers and creative vendors on hand offering handmade awards, holiday gifts, vintage collections, and artisan foods.

December 25

Santa Skis Free at Brighton. The first 200 guests in holiday costumes get a free lift ticket and join the fun at the annual Santa Ski Run. The Ski Run starts at 11am where everyone in costume meets at the top of the Majestic chairlift to ski down the mountain together. 

December 30

Deer Valley Torchlight Parade 2024. This event is presented by Deer Valley Resort. The traditional torchlight parade will begin at approximately 6pm on Big Stick Ski run on Bald Eagle Mountain behind Snow Park Lodge. Guests are invited to come watch and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate, cider, and cookies from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. 

December 31

Midnight Madness 5K. Start the new year right with a 5K through Sugar House Park. Those who finish before midnight will receive a special award. Packet pickup begins at 10:30pm and pre-registration is $35 at raceentry.com

December 31

Noon Year’s Eve Dance Party. This is an event for kids held at the Viridian Event Center, 8030 S 1825 W, West Jordan. This is a family-friendly celebration designed specifically for children ages 0-5. The party will run from 11:30am to 12:30pm.

December 31 

New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks at Snowbird. Held from 6pm to 7pm on Plaza Deck with the parade and fireworks from 6 to 6:30 and fire pits from 6 to 7. 

Nordic Valley’s New Year’s Eve Party. Take on the slopes and enjoy live music, fireworks, a torchlight parade, and some tasty beverages. This is an event for all ages so bring your family and friends for an unforgettable night. Get discounted tickets now at nordicvalley.ski. The event will run from 5pm on December 31, 2024 to 1am on January 1, 2025.
