The Coffee Shop Patio Reopens

With our current warm weather, the folks at Little America Hotel have reopened The Coffee Shop patio for al fresco dining. In honor of its reopening, the restaurant has introduced a new summer menu with mouthwatering bites and an expanded cocktail/mocktail selection. Available to enjoy on the reimagined patio or indoors, the summer menu includes: Grilled Flatiron Steak served with mashed potatoes and Chimichurri, Steak Nachos with house made queso and freshly fried tortilla chips, Pork and Vegetable Potstickers, Blueberry Gin & Tonic made with Hendrick’s Gin, Grove Ginger Highball made with Seedlip Grove-42 (non-alcoholic spirit). In addition The Coffee Shop has introduced new summer desserts, including Raspberry Pie, Peach Cobbler, and Chocolate & Pistachio Tartufo.

Pie & Beer at Hyatt SLC

For Pioneer Day on July 24, The Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City is featuring a limited time ‘Pie and Beer Day’ special available at both the Contribution Cocktail Lounge, an attractive downtown gathering spot to mix, mingle and engage in good conversation, and the on property restaurant The Salt Republic, only on July 24th.

The Pie Special ($6) will be Wild Berry Pie made with a lemon crust and Chantilly. The Beer Special is Uinta Brewing Company Alpen Weizen Mountain Berry Rush ($8).

New Gateway Merchants

The Gateway has a couple of new food & drink merchants to add to their already delectable roster.

According to our friends at The Gateway, “The former sports bar ‘Bout Time has re-opened as The Bruce Scottish Pub. A full-service sports pub, the name is a tribute to William Ray Bruce (local restaurateur, lost too young to cancer), a descendent of Robert the Bruce, King of Scots. The menu blends with traditional pub fare with Scottish culinary classics, such as Bangers and Mash, Cullen Skink, and Scotch Pies. Novices and connoisseurs will be delighted by the robust whiskey selection, in addition to many beers on tap.”

“The boba tea craze comes to The Gateway with the opening of the third Pearl Milk Tea Club location and the first in Salt Lake City. Offering a variety of flavors and styles that can be mixed, the sky’s the limit on how customers can enjoy their boba drink. No two Pearl Milk experiences are alike as delicious, new combinations are created daily.”

“We are excited by the re-concepting of the former ‘Bout Time and to welcome Hawaii Fluid Art and Pearl Milk Tea Club,” says Julissa Breslin, The Gateway’s director of marketing. “Businesses are recognizing that The Gateway has become a desirable place for them thanks to Vestar fulfilling its vision to create a dynamic, community-focused destination. They have opened just in time to take advantage of all the visitors our summer events attract.”

  • When Main Street Burned: The Aftermath of the Salt Lake City Fire That Hit Downtown Bars

Fire doesn’t respect zoning, property lines, or even the most popular block on Main Street. On the evening of Monday, August 11, 2025, a blaze that began around 8:40 p.m. on Main Street. It moved quickly through a row of aging, interconnected buildings that had become the heart and soul of Salt Lake City’s fledgling bar district. By the time firefighters brought it under control, multiple businesses were damaged, dozens of workers were displaced, and one of the city’s most active stretches went dark.

The fire started at London Bell and spread into neighboring structures, severely damaging Whiskey Street. White Horse never caught fire, but smoke, water, and a partial roof collapse caused extensive interior damage, forcing a full rebuild. Other nearby businesses were affected as well, including some that had helped turn this part of Main Street into one of its most active and economically stable stretches.
