As summer approaches, many of us start looking for new ways to be active. Whether you’re emerging from a cozy winter of hibernation, or searching for a replacement for skiing and snowboarding, there are inexpensive and accessible ways to get outside, get active, and make the most of summer.

When Zeveloff arrived at Weber State in 1984, he entered a state that was far more isolated than the Utah most residents know today. The state was growing, but it had not yet experienced the population boom, national attention and influx of newcomers that would come in later decades. At Weber State, most professors were white, male and Mormon. Most either came from Utah or had received their graduate training there.

Zeveloff was different in nearly every way.

The boisterous energy that characterizes most of the 999 Ride’s participants is a result of the long-established bonds and trust they’ve all helped to build within the local cycling community.
