HO HO HOLIDAY DINING: Xmas and New Year’s Restaurant Dinners

Here is the list of excellent restaurants to dine over the holidays in Salt Lake and Park City with special minus for Christmas and New Year.

On both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Aerie restaurant at Snowbird’s Cliff Lodge will offer a special holiday menu from 5 to 9 p.m., priced at $79 per person, tax and gratuity not included. Executive Chef Ken Ohlinger’s holiday dinner starts with Bay Scallop Potato Chowder, followed by Roasted Pear & Blue Cheese Salad. The entree is a choice of Skate “Meuniere” with preserved lemon, parsley, brown butter and roasted potatoes, or Prime Rib with black truffle mac & cheese, garlic wilted kale, and natural jus. Dessert is Nana Norma’s Fruit Cake with white chocolate and bourbon ice cream. The Aerie’s regular dinner menu will also be available. 

The good folks at Arlo restaurant are cooking up holiday dinners for pick up on Friday afternoon, December 24th. The dinner serves 4-6 people and is priced at $200. The food will be refrigerated and reheating instructions are included. The to-go menu features House Spiral Rolls, Wild Rice Pilaf, Winter Succotash, Chicory Salad, Sweet Potatoes, Chocolate Tart, Christmas Cookies and Cranberry Shrub with Bergamot and Ginger. 

Deer Valley Grocery-Café’s holiday take-away menu items (for 4 people) include roasted pork loin, roasted green bean almondine, savory bread pudding and baby spinach salad. Indulge in Deer Valley Bakery holiday cookies, 6” carrot and German chocolate cakes, apple brown sugar coffee cake, and apple, blueberry and cherry pies. Place orders at diningtogo.deervalley.com by Monday, Dec. 20. Pick-up is on Thursday, Dec. 23 by 3:30 p.m. at Deer Valley Grocery-Café, 435-615-2400.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar will host assorted holiday meals including a “Festive Holiday Lunch” ($65 per guest); “Refined Holiday Dinner” ($125 per guest); and their “Legendary Holiday Dinner” ($150 per guest). The latter runs the gamut from a Champagne Toast welcome, chilled seafood tower, and sweet & spicy filet mignon skewers, to Prime bone-in ribeye, pan-seared Chilean sea bass, lobster macaroni and cheese, chocolate gooey butter cake, and many more menu options. 

Park City’s venerable Grub Steak Restaurant is hosting both Christmas and New Year’s Eve dinners. For Christmas, choose between salad and wild rice and mushroom soup before moving on to basil pesto baked salmon, choice of side, and indulgent spiced apple bread pudding with High West bourbon sauce. $45.75 per person. Then on New Year’s Eve, guests will choose between salad or wild rice and mushroom soup followed by beef tenderloin with grilled portobello mushrooms, a 9-oz Maine lobster tail, choice of side and decadent homemade chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and fresh berries.

Hearth and Hill in Kimball Junction is providing guests with Christmas Eve Dinner to-go, with curbside pick-up from noon to 4 p.m. on December 24th. Dinner for 8 is $350 and includes Beef Tenderloin with shallot cream sauce; Roasted Salmon with chimichurri; Deviled Eggs & Shrimp Cocktail; Endive Salad; and Au Gratin Potatoes. There are also assorted add-on sides such as Truffle Mac L& Cheese and Cheddar Biscuits with honey butter for an additional fee. 

Christmas Dinner at La Caille is a five course affair which begins with Artisanal Charcuterie followed by Pomegranate Salad, The third course is French Pumpkin Soup, followed by a choice of entrees: Garlic-Crusted Prime Rib; Crispy Duck Breast; Cedar Plank Salmon; or Grilled Superior Farms Lamb. Dessert options include Eggnog Creme Brulee; Christmas Gingerbread; or Chocolate Orange Paris Brest. The price is $140/adults and $65 for kids 5-12, 4 & under free. 

Stanza Italian Bistro will host a special five course, prix-fixe New Year’s Eve dinner priced at $95 per person, plus tax and gratuity. For starters, there’s a choice of Bibb Salad, Shrimp & English Pea Arancini or Seafood Bisque, followed by a course of Smoked Kurobuta Pork Shank or Seared Atlantic Halibut. After an intermezzo of Lychee Lime Sorbet, diners will choose from an entree of Grilled New York Strip Steak or Seared Scallops. Dessert follows with Raspberry Dark Chocolate Cannoli, Tiramisu, or Blackberry Semifreddo. 

A special Christmas Eve Menu will be the highlight of Tuscany’s three course Christmas Eve dinner. The first course is a choice of New England-style Clam Chowder or Tuscan Pear Salad followed by main course choices: Slow-Roasted Niman Ranch Prime Rib with garlic mashed potatoes, roasted cipollini onions & mushrooms, or Crab Stuffed Halibut with fig & cambozola risotto, asparagus and herb hollandaise, or Roasted Polenta Cakes with mixed mushrooms, marsala sauce, creme & chives. Dessert is a choice of Nutella Cheesecake with peppermint bark or Bananas Foster Bread Pudding with caramel rum syrup. 

Versante Hearth & Bar in the Park City Peaks Hotel will be serving Christmas dinner from 4 to 9 p.m. featuring marinated turkey, prime rib, kids’ turkey dinners and chocolate pot de crème, in addition to the restaurant’s full menu. On New Year’s Eve, enjoy a  celebration for all ages. Ring in 2022 with the whole family and enjoy chef-inspired specials and a champagne toast, along with the restaurant’s full menu from 4 to 11 p.m. and a DJ from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

In Park City, Windy Ridge Bakery is making the holidays a little easier this year with their special Holiday To-Go menu which includes items such as Buche de Noel, Mile High Apple Pie, Chocolate Decadence Cake, Maple Pecan Pie, Tomato & Spinach Quiche, Ham & Swiss Quiche, Lemon Meringue Pie, and more. At the beautiful Yuta restaurant at The Lodge at Blue Sky in Wanship, they’re offering Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners, as well as New Year’s Eve dinner. Here is the lowdown: Enjoy a “family style” format for Christmas Eve dinner by Chef Galen Zamarra at $95 per person with an optional wine pairing. Children’s menu available. Reservations only, accepted from 5:30p-9pm. There will be live piano music in the Living Room, 6pm – 9:30pm and Storytelling with Santa after dinner, 8:30pm – 9:30pm. For Christmas Day at Yuta, partake in an elegant 4-course pre-fixe menu at $115 per person with an optional wine pairing. Reservations only, accepted from 5:30p-9pm. And then on New Year’s Eve, celebrate the incoming new year with a specialty 6 course pre-fixe menu by Chef Galen at $195 per person with an optional wine pairing. Reservations only, accepted from 6pm-9pm.  Live music in Yuta Bar, 8pm – 12am.
