Summer is here with blooming flowers and wildlife sightings. We are excited to get outside into the cool mountain air and enjoy our beautiful nook of nature. The Alta community and Alta’s General Manager Mike Maughan welcome you to summer at Alta, “We invite visitors to responsibly enjoy the beauty and charm of Albion Basin. Please respect the natural environment by staying on the trails, not picking the wildflowers, leaving no trace, and keeping your distance from wildlife. We anticipate many visitors this summer. Please plan ahead and be patient and understanding as you visit the Albion Basin.” The summer road and fee booth are open. With limited parking in Albion Basin, a $10 amenity fee per vehicle will be charged to access the summer road. Free parking is available in the Town of Alta and the Albion base area.

Hiking/Camping

Meander through the wildflowers on designated trails this summer. There will be a temporary trail closure at the bottom of the Collins Gulch trail from June to September, Monday through Thursday from 7am-5pm. The family-friendly Lower Albion Meadows trail is only accessible from the Albion Base area during this closure. Don’t miss the newly installed interpretive signs on the Lower Albion Meadows trail, offering up a range of information from Alta’s geologic past to a wildflower identification guide. The Albion Basin campground will open Friday, June 25, with first-come, first-serve camping sites through July 1. Reservations are required from July 2 through the remainder of the summer.

Food

New this summer, enjoy the Alta Eats food truck conveniently located in the Albion parking lot. Grab hot and cold food before or after your hike. Alta Eats will be open every Friday from 11am-6:30pm and on weekends and holidays from 8am-6:30pm. Forgot bug spray? The Alta Camp Store located near the Cecret Lake trailhead has you covered. The camp store is stocked with snacks, bug spray, water, ice cream and bagged ice daily from 11am-6pm.

Let the Alta Lodge or the Snowpine Lodge do the cooking this summer. Enjoy a spot at the Gulch Pub or on the patio from 2pm-9pm midweek and noon-9pm on weekends. Savor Sunday brunch at the Alta Lodge from 9:30am-2pm. Are you starting your hike into Albion Basin early? Check out Swen’s breakfast from 7am-10am daily or dinner from 5pm-9pm Thursday through Sunday. Don’t miss the Snowpine Lodge’s seasonal and weekly events.
