Brittany Golden, owner of Brittany Golden Studio, has been teaching metalsmithing for more than 13 years. Her Sugar House studio and full-time school is flourishing. Walk into the stimulating space she’s created and you can’t help but feel inspired. Artistry flourishes in her eclectic studio. BGS has been responsible for awakening the inner metalsmith in thousands of students from hobbyists to professionals.

The scope of classes at BGS is broad. You can walk into the studio without knowing a thing about silversmithing and walk out two hours later—full bragging rights in tow—with a gorgeous ring, bracelet, or pendant that YOU made. Do-it-yourselfers will think they’ve died and gone to a silver-lined heaven.

Brittany also teaches a Jewelry Business Certification Program, a deep dive into owning and operating your own business. It’s a 6-month course that covers all of the jewelry making skills for the artistic side of the business—including silversmithing, lapidary, cold connections, fold forming, enameling, precious metal clay, and much more—plus all of the necessities for the business side, such as building a website, creating a social media presence, setting up your studio, safety practices, etc. And the best part is that there’s no other training like it anywhere.

“We get down to the nuts and bolts of business. It’s a full-time immersion in the world of owning a jewelry business. While I teach the majority of the classes, I also bring in other teachers from the huge talent pool we have in the area,” Brittany says.

For those about to get married or celebrate a milestone anniversary, BGS offers a Wedding Ring Workshop where couples can make their own unique rings together.Rings for sale

  • When Main Street Burned: The Aftermath of the Salt Lake City Fire That Hit Downtown Bars

Fire doesn’t respect zoning, property lines, or even the most popular block on Main Street. On the evening of Monday, August 11, 2025, a blaze that began around 8:40 p.m. on Main Street. It moved quickly through a row of aging, interconnected buildings that had become the heart and soul of Salt Lake City’s fledgling bar district. By the time firefighters brought it under control, multiple businesses were damaged, dozens of workers were displaced, and one of the city’s most active stretches went dark.

The fire started at London Bell and spread into neighboring structures, severely damaging Whiskey Street. White Horse never caught fire, but smoke, water, and a partial roof collapse caused extensive interior damage, forcing a full rebuild. Other nearby businesses were affected as well, including some that had helped turn this part of Main Street into one of its most active and economically stable stretches.
