In the Bible, God’s Word sets up a series of contrasts to explain the gospel. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8). Condemnation vs. Freedom; sin and death vs. life and peace. Condemnation is a decision or judgment against us. If left just with the law of God, the law condemns us. But in Christ, God sets free. Freedom from the law of sin and death, free to know God, free for love in relationship with God and one another. – excerpt of sermon 10/19/14.

After serving churches on the east coast, Rev. Dr. Imperiale (“Pastor Mike”) came to 1st Presbyterian Church in SLC in 2001. He holds a Bachelor’s in Music and Master’s and Doctorate in Ministry. As a pastor, he is focused on helping people come to faith in Jesus and to grow in their relationship with God and one another. Sermons can be read or heard at www.fpcslc.org or on Sunday mornings at 9 and 11 am.
