Ceramics artist Randi Lile isn’t dreaming of becoming a world traveling artist. She is living the dream, creating intriguing, highly original pieces that have found receptive buyers. Randi’s pieces are vivid and striking. They grab hold and take you to a subterranean world partially under the sea and partially into her subconscious. Mittleider Method, organic farmers using fertilizer?

July 17, 2013 by Richard Markosian Leave a Comment

“Fertilizer has gotten a bad rap, but I don’t believe there is a single successful large-scale organic farmer who is making a living without using fertilizer.” This statement came as a shock. Could it really be that organic farmers use fertilizer? I still haven’t answered this questions as of press time but Jim Kennard, president of the Food For Everyone Foundation, which … [Read more...]

July 17, 2013 by Erika Kirsch Leave a Comment

Making a lifelong dream come true has helped to both satiate a passion and also replenish the buzzing sound of summer in the Wasatch mountain range. “Who doesn’t love honey bees?” asked D. William Pettigrew, president and owner of BlueBox Honey of South Jordan. “They represent all that is good and are the only insect to provide a beneficial resource/by-product to … [Read more...]

July 13, 2013 by Connie Lewis Leave a Comment

Imagine your husband is killed and your son is also shot and permanently injured by a random act of violence. This is the reality for Vickie Walker and how she found help. Most people would file a civil suit if they were the victim of a violent crime, but what if the perpetrator of the crime had no money? The Motorcycle Desert Doctor of Escalante

July 13, 2013 by Richard Markosian 2 Comments

Looking around the town of Escalante we see old pioneer homes. Other homes have watchdogs and barbed wire with all sorts of junk in the front yard. Driving past the Desert Doctor’s abode we find a motorcycle hospital far removed from any medical plan imaginable. The Good Doctor’s operating room is just off Main Street. It’s impossible to miss with its hand-painted tires … [Read more...]

Desert Koffee the Kiva way.

July 13, 2013 by Richard Markosian Leave a Comment

With a panoramic view of the Escalante River winding through a red rock canyon, the Kivahouse is unlike any other place in Utah.
