While French is often the language of choice used to describe culinary greatness, there is nothing in all of France or of the continent of Europe that can touch the exquisite Celestial Burger offered at Lucky 13. “We bring in smoked bacon for the burger, but we then smoke it again in-house,” says chef Ohms. The applewood crispy smoked bacon with the extremely juicy patty and pillowy bun with homemade bbq sauce and garlic fries were indeed superb.

But it wasn’t actually the Celestial Burger that won the title of World’s Greatest. According to contest rules, the Food Network owns the rights to the recipe until the program airs on television. But it was the Celestial Burger that qualified Lucky 13 for the contest and since they won, “Our lunch rush has been very busy…This used to be our slow time, now it’s busy all the time.”

Lucky 13 is located at 135 West 1300 South and open 11 am to 2 am. The kitchen is open till 11 pm.
