Small Town Spotlight: Eureka Utah
February 2nd, 2010
Once a booming mining town, Eureka is now one of Utah's most famous ghost towns

Eureka was once a financial center for Utah and the Intermountain West. In the 1890's gold was discovered and Eureka and neighboring Tintic became overnight boom towns. Complete with its own newspaper, brewery and eventually, a Rio Grande railroad line, Eureka's population peaked in 1895. Today it is one of Utah's most famous ghost towns. On Main Street, there are buildings missing roofs, boarded-up brothels and creepy toys. Visit Eureka by taking I-15 to Santaquin's Highway 6. Approximately 80 minutes travel from SLC.
